Does anyone know where I could get a traditional or electric sitar in Northern Ireland without having to resort to eBay or something of the like?

I don't recall ever having seen a sitar in the flesh, much less in a local music shop. I guess you could call a few local shops and ask if they could order you one in - they'll all have accounts with distributors who should be able to get you one. If you're lucky, a wanted ad in the [i:e4f355c01c]Buy and Sell[/i:e4f355c01c] and [i:e4f355c01c]Ads for Free[/i:e4f355c01c] might work.

Failing that, eBay is probably your best bet!

There's a class place in London called Macaris, They have sitars by the dozen, it's a very famous place. I spent ages playing sitar downstairs there.

There is a sitar on the wall of the Jharna resturant on the Lisburn Road, you could ask them for it.

    Sorry there.

Haha cheers guys! I think I'll try that Lisburn Road place and I'll try and find out the name of that music shop. I would've asked in Matchetts or somewhere but, well, you can only imagine what kind of reply I would've got...

    I'll ask anyway. Cheers again!

wat about this? a sitar in a pedal!

How effective is that really going to be at emulating a sitar? They are really complex instuments sonicly, you cant just stick a ring modulator on your guitar and hope for the best. I'd love one of those electric sitar jobbies that Weller used on 'Mathar', tuned to C major, much easier to play then the standard C C G C G C F tuning.

Or so I've heard like, not that I'm an expert or nuthin'

    How about this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MD-Electric-Sitar_W0QQitemZ7381230032QQcategoryZ2384QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Right, I'm away off to listen to 'Love You Too' [img:32f34b82b2]http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/67.gif[/img:32f34b82b2]

Haha, yeah I've been listenin to the beatles non stop recently, the best sitar one is 'Within you without you', my favourite beatles song.

The only decent sitar pedal I've seen is Dan Donegan's 'The Weapon', all the rest are rubbish.

Within you without you is the reason I first picked up guitar. I had to learn it. Still have to, mind...

There used to be a place called Jah Musicals but dunno if it's still on the go they traded in indian instruments. There also used to be a site but it seems to have disappeared...

Maybe you'll have more luck finding out...
