just a wee question for you all - a friend of mine won a guitar signed by greenday ( a lovely les paul ) & she's wondering how she could preserve the signatures - she wants to play it but doesn't want the sigs to wear off - obviously some sort of varnish or laquer or something but she doesn't want to fuck it up by doing it herself!!. any ideas or does anyone know anybody who does this sorta thing??
any help would be lovely.
Aye, a mate of mine makes guitars from scratch, he's a genius with this sorta thing.
Houl on and I'll ask him. I'll get back to ya.
Seek out Dennis Currie. He does excellent refinishing - pretty straightforward to get a nitro cellulose coat over the top of it or summat.
Not doing it yourself is sensible. The solvents in different lacquers and varnishes can react with each other and give you an ugly crackly or bubbly finish. Definitely needs an expert.
Denis Currie is your man . 028 38335666 (Portadown).
cheers folks - i'll pass on the details to my amigo & she'll pass her thanks right back at ya..
