I've just built a new system, and have hit a brick wall here. Basically, everything as far as I can tell (having built a few before) is in place. However, when i power the system up I get no display on my monitor, the light on it stays red as if the system wasn't switched on. There are no audible beeps as there might be if, say, the ram was not present. I've also tried switching to another graphics card to see if that solved the problem. It didn't. Anyway, heres the specs -
Board - Intel DP43TF
Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300
Cooler - Akasa AK-956CP
Case + PSU - Arctic Cooling Silentium T3 Eco 80 w/ 550watt PSU
Ram - 2 x 2GB DDR2 800 Buffalo Select (I've tried removing from channel 2, no joy)
HDD - Hitachi Deskstar 1TB SATA
Graphics - NVidia Geforce 8500GT (also tried old ATI Radeon X300SE)
is the motherboard new????i had the exact same issue with one i bought and checked everything and even put new bios chip into it but i gave up!.try somewhere like
Got it sorted!
Sorry, I neglected to mention I also had a near 10 year old PCI soundcard in there too, powered up fine once removed. Could be a power issue, although I've ran it off Maplin's shittiest 400w supplies before so I'm thinking mayby it's just some incompatability issue that will never be resolved unfortunately.
out of curiosity - on the power input on the motherboard, did you use 20 or 24 pin connector?
it'll be a motherboard jumper. probably the clear bios jumper.
