Just wondered if anyone knew how to download/install the new Flash update for Mac.

Everytime I download it, it runs the installation program successfully until it asks me to quit all running applications... it also shows you a list of what is running. There is always Firefox plus another unknown application, represented by a little black box with green letters in it.

And because I don't know what that is (and task manager says it isn't there) I can't continue installation.

    Any suggestions?

what version of OSX are you running, and on what model mac? I'm running 10.4.11 on a macbook... and the newest flash update installed ok...

I'd try dumping the downloaded updater you have, goin' to http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html to find the correct one you want, saving it to disk (rather than having it auto-open when download is complete). THen quit yer browser, force-quit anything else that might be open (hitting apple=shift=escape keys), including force-quitting the 'Finder' in that same dialog box that'll come up, n' then try the install. Could be you're running a version of OSX that isn't workable with the newest flash vs, or maybe you got the UB or PPC version when you needed the other one?
