McHugh’s is a traditional Belfast pub which has been extended, fairly tastefully, in modern times. The original building was a dockside townhouse of the late 17th Century, which first became a pub in 1711. The modern extension includes a larger public bar on the ground floor, restaurant above, and a cellar bar used for music events.
The pub is one of the historic buildings which line the South side of Queen’s Square, adjacent to Custom House Square, a large open plaza (and venue for large outdoor gigs).
