Wikifudia is an open encyclopedia for all artists in or closely related to the Northern Irish music scene. If you are (or know of) an artist not yet listed, you can add a wiki page by following the guides below.

Adding Or Updating A Band Page
As with all wiki pages, you can add a page by searching for it, then click the red page title in the results to create it. See #Band Page conventions below for tips on naming a band page. Editing an existing band is done by simply clicking the 'edit' tab at the top of the band's page. You must be logged in to add or edit pages.
When adding or updating information, please be sure to follow the guidelines set out here for consistency and accuracy.

Writing A Biography
You can include some biographical info as part of your band page, but keep it short, simple and factual. No opinions or self-promotion. Remember, the essence of a wiki is information, not marketing. Read http://fastfude.org/topic.php?id=38715 for advice on keeping it simple short and to the point.
Have a look at some popular band profiles on Wikipedia for examples: Pearl Jam, Oasis, Michael Jackson
Try to include a few of these:
- A general description of the style of music you play that readers will understand. Try wikipedia:Category:Musical_subgenres_by_genre for useful definitions.
- How long you have been going.
- Significant events and performances beyond the normal trivia and gigging circuit.
- The musical makeup of the group - names aren't important, but instruments can be useful.
- If there's an online live review you can quote from, cite it (with a reference link).
Band Page conventions
- Always end the entry with [[Category:Bands]]
- No ALL-CAPS names - Capitalise the first letter of each word in the name.
- Use good category sorting
- Names begging with 'A ' or 'The ' should add a sort order to the category tag, using the rest of the name without the prefix. eg: A band called The Shoe Horns should include the following: [[Category:Bands|Shoe Horns]]
- Names beginning with numbers should add a sort-order to the category tag, using the text equivalent of the number. eg: A band called 1234 should include the following: [[Category:Bands|onetwothreefour]]
- Avoid punctuation and symbols in names that only have decorative value. If it's an integral part of the name, spell it out.
