Biography

Asterix were a four piece from Co. Derry. Formed in 1994, the band signed to Schism Records in 1997 and during their short time with the label they released two EPs, Laura Loves’ & ‘Shes’ so young’, both of which were made Single of the Fortnight in Hot Press. Laura Loves, in particular, received major airplay in Ireland and won Best Song in the Hot Press Bacardi Unplugged competition. They also did a session for the infamous Dave Fanning Show.

in 1999 they released their first single ‘ Pulse’, which was taken from their debut album ‘I Know Your Soul’. The track was playlisted for 4 weeks on Xfm, plus recieved support at GLR, Virgin, & Radio One. The video, which was filmed in New York, got extensive plays on Irish TV Shows like NO DISCO, POP ON 3 and the DEN 2. Their debut album ‘I Know Your Soul’ was released in June to great reviews and saw the band make major moves into the UK. To support the release Asterix embarked on an extensive acoustic radio tour of Ireland & UK during June & July.

The UK tour took in 15 different stations as well as various instore shows and regional press interviews including the Melody Maker. Asterix also fitted in a BBC Radio One Evening session as part of the new ‘Session from N.Ireland’.
