Ahriman
From Wikifudia
AHRIMAN formed in late 2004 when Andrew Baxter (Guitars, Guitar Synth and Vox), Jim Seymour (Bass and Backing Vox) and Gerard Gallagher (Drums) came together to jam. The initial sessions were so promising, they decided to pursue the venture further and Ahriman was born.
Rehearsing intensely to produce a set of original material, they have cultivated a sound of their own, not adhering to any genre-specific constraints while still holding true to their Metal roots.
Based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, they look forward to making their mark on the Local scene and Ahriman intend to gig intensively in order to further develop their sound as an entity to be reckoned with.
The name Ahriman comes from the Avesta, the collection of religious writings in Zoroastrianism.
Ahriman is ethymologically the Middle Persian form of Angra Mainyu, one of the two twin-spirits created by Ahura Mazda. Ahriman chose evil consciously, and by this act he created death.
The central subject of Zoroastrian teaching and theology is the constant ongoing battle between Ahriman and Ahura Mazda
