In mid-May SONI is going to host a WEEK OF ROCK! Well, a long weekend would be a more accurate description, but that doesn't sound as impressive :D To celebrate the fantastic rock/hard rock bands that this country excels in producing, we're gonna host 2 big rock shows in Belfast, on a Thursday and Saturday, and that week's Sounds of NI Radio Show will be a NI Hard Rock & Metal Special.....

On Thursday 18th May we will descend upon The Belfast Empire Music Hall.....

LO MEJOR will headline - straight up, one of the finest live bands in the country - a glorious, bluesy, ballsy hard rock outfit with class songs, the mighty pipes of Stevie Blues (formerly Swanee River) and stunning musicianship throughout. A perfect headliner for a Summer's night....

GASOLINE OUTLAWS play their first SONI gig in aaaages, and their first ever Empire show for us - big, bruising, riffy rock driven home in a spectacular fashion, with plenty of melody & hooks in the mix...

SLICK DISTRICT is a hugely impressive newcomer, female-fronted melodic rock with a nod to AOR giants like Journey - simultaneously tuneful & gutsy with a no-holds-barred, passionate delivery...

PHILIP MCCARROLL (that will be me then) - erstwhile Pay*ola frontman now performing solo acoustic will kick off the night, and will be joined on some tunes by Adam & Nicky Payola! Check out the tunes at www.soundcloud.com/philipmccarroll

Doors 8.30pm, admission only 5.50 - plus special drinks promos all night. Stick it in yer diary and plan nothing else!
