I've noticed that all previous links seem to be disabled, showing only the embed codes.
Is this a temporary problem, or is it going to be a permanent feature?

Just a temporary thing.
With the amount of spambots about these days, it's not a good idea to have quite such permissive posting on the forum.
I'll tweak the parser to recognise youtube/vimeo embed codes and let them through when I get a sec.
On that note, I'll probably clear out 'unused' users soon to kill any dormant bots. So if you have an account you want to keep but haven't posted or messaged anyone yet, now's the time.
That Happy Birthday thread slows my computer way down with the amount of youtube embeds. Is there a need for so many, or should I just learn not to open it again?
Hmmm, good point. I have noticed the same thing myself, though tbh I presumed it was my own computer that was to blame.
I could replace the links with pic's, though IMO a picture is worth fuck-all-squared compared to an actual example of their work.
Here's a solution - I'll start the next one on a fresh thread, then cap it at around the 25-30post mark, that way I (and anyone else for that matter) can continue to pay homage to artists that have provided considerable influence, without causing a 'thread meltdown'.
Maybe monthly threads? All the birthdays in November, and recycle it annually? I actually think it's a fantastic resource, so keep it up.
Also, check if the embed code loads the Flash player or a native HTML5 one (right click and see if it's showing Adobe Flash info). A ton of flash objects on one page would probably murder performance.
I use the Flashblock extension for Firefox, so a billion YouTube embeds wouldn't slow me down. :D
Are embeds coming back anytime soon? Or are they permanently off the menu?
