The monthly series of [b:b2d7a3ab77]SO:NI[/b:b2d7a3ab77] live showcase gigs continues at Hague’s Bar in Lisburn on Thursday 28th July, and promises to be another special show.
The gig will be headlined by perennial Belfast rockers [b:b2d7a3ab77]Pay*ola[/b:b2d7a3ab77], who will be returning to Lisburn for the first time in many months. The band had a lengthy break from gigging in last 2010/early 2011 due to lead guitarist Nick Joseph sustaining a sports-related head injury. His ongoing recovery has only recently allowed a return to live performance, and their “comeback” show at the “Anlassen” motorbike & music festival in Germany in April was an emotionally charged occasion – possibly the most important show Pay*ola will ever play. The band is still promoting 2010’s well received Optimism Will Destroy Me album, and will also be road-testing some brand new material, to be recorded soon for their next release.
There is also a great support line up arranged, featuring Belfast/Bangor classic rock outfit [b:b2d7a3ab77]Sweet Taste[/b:b2d7a3ab77] – a swaggering, punchy and bluesy 4-piece with Aerosmith and Black Crowes influences. Also playing is Lisburn trio [b:b2d7a3ab77]Full Rejector[/b:b2d7a3ab77] – recent finalists in the Music Quest competition, and ever improving as a live act, with many dynamic new tunes in their armoury.
First up is brand new acoustic act [b:b2d7a3ab77]Ezekiel Boom[/b:b2d7a3ab77], led by local singer-songwriter Alan Kennedy.
A great atmosphere is always guaranteed at the SO:NI nights, which take place on the last Thursday of each month. Doors open at 8.30pm, and admission is only £4. For all info join the crew on Facebook by searching Soni Live, or check www.myspace.com/onesonimusic
