So maybe Rikmandu will get to do that UK tour after all, with their end of tour party to take place in the Portaferry Arms featuring Rikmandu, Star Residue, Grit and the Dangerfields.

Happy days.

Great to see these guys picking up the gauntlet again, because despite all the talk of their faults, and the idea of a more worthwhile replacement, 6 months on and noone has achieved anything to actively develop music in NI.

Would it not have been more honest & transparent of Infest NI and the Farts Council to have called this?

the Ross Graaham, Mark Goordon, Richaard Dale, Andreew Ferrris, Rocky O'reilley and their mates fund?

or :)

The lets take all the above of on holiday to SXSwest and other trips again and again and again fund?

or

NIMIC closes under scandal and accusations of pocket filling and election rigging so lets set up a new non members based quango so the people involved before can do what they did before except with no board to answer tooooo fund?

or

Lets fuuuuuucccck the guys who where stupid enough to invest their own money to start up there own music businesses and replace them with the funded Knobs above fund?

Hey

Ross?
Mark?
Andrew?
Richard?
Rocky?

Please can I be your mate? so I can go on the next trips toooo wif you guys :)

oops should really have asked your buddies Martyn Addair (Infest NI) or perhaps Lorrraine McDowwell from the Farts Council for Northern Ireland :)

But with all that ciif funding your buds Ross, Martynn and Lorraaine got most of you guys they just coulnt keep givin yis all mooooooore money and keep sendin yus to all the trips agin cud they??? :)

LOL watch this space.

There are alot of bitter people on this board unfortunately. I would take no notice of that fella below, as he clearly can find no productive outlet for his frustration.

It's been a long time since I've seen anything pro-active for the music industry being done or even mentioned on these forums. I say we give FFWD a chance.

I'm sure anyone with a shred of sense would agree. Good luck guys.

I can see both sides of the argument - it tends to be the same people who get funding and it is a case of the dreaded "networking" - ie. who you know / making connections with the right people. A good idea will not necessarily get you anywhere but a half decent one with the right contacts will.

It can be very frustrating for people (like me) who aren't very savvy; constantly having doors closed even despite the fact that what I want to do would be both cost effective and beneficial to the music industry.

With that being said, you cant blame those who succeed as bitterness will get you nowhere - essentially you have to bite the bullet hope for the best.
10. avatar clss_act_00
Like it or not, networking is part of the industry now. And a lot of it is down to hard work..

Fair enough it helps when you're a bit savvy with it, but it's a necessary evil. A lot like having appropriate fashion/style/etc

Have you been unsuccessful in getting help from NIMIC in the past?

I for one haven't had dealings with NIMIC - I am not making any statements about their structure / who they decide to fund. I was making an overarching statement on the issue of funding and the hoops you have to jump through to receive it. The system is not perfect but it never will be! At the end of the day it is down to a human being making the decisions and like everyone else they are fallible.

To be honest I will be interested in speaking with FFWD when they get up and running - it will be very interesting to see how it all pans out. Hopefully past mistakes will be learned from and everyone will be dealt with a more even hand from what was said on the NIMIC closure thread (http://fastfude.org/topic.php?id=38564).

NIMIC did whatever they could for people who asked, on a TINY budget.
This is an equally tiny budget. This new venture has just been announced.
Despite a lot of hot air here and elsewhere, it's the only actual tangible thing to emerge in the wake of NIMIC's collapse. It's hilarious that some people are sticking the boot in and hurling all sorts of charges about when it has literally only just emerged.

Well to be fair its only been one person and by Fastfude standards that is no-one at all. I think most people are sticking to a 'wait and see' policy, which in my experience is the best possible idea.
15. avatar T Entertainment
Yes, actually I ended up doing what I've accused other people of doing there - drawing an unnecessarily negative picture of FF because one person has an angry rant.
Fair point.

lol surely all quangos in NornIrond have been ConDemmed as Cameron launches his "WYSE THE BAPS" campaign to stop the "public sector" constituting 79% of the pravinces "GDP" (and what a P it is, readers).

Btw, what happened to those d1cks who wanted to set up their own NornIRond version of PRS?

I for one look forward to the launching of a website of some kind along with a picture of gormless InvestNI bod standing beside man holding laptop aloft.

Haha!! Surely some computery person could rustle up a "Belfast Telegraph Promotional Photo Generator". You'd just need a couple of selectable backdrops (Belfast City Hall, Giant's Causeway, some sort of local market) with a few middle aged blokes in suits (and a token female) in the foreground and space to insert a photo of the main variable - a scruffy looking arts type or someone dressed up as a packet of crisps or whatever. Oh, and the whole picture has to be at a jaunty angle.

Actually, you can ignore this post, I think the Belfast Telegraph are already using this software.

It would appear that www.ffdni.com has now also "bit the bullet".

well I doubt any pictures will be taking with invest NI folk as I hear they lost their contract (which they had for around 15 years) to a Scottish firm, not that they done much anyway the feckers. :D

It's not that uncommon in the IT industry to see "Invest NI Experience" on a job advert for higher end project/program/product management. This is code for "experience in actually getting money out of Invest NI"...
