SO:NI in Lisburn on the last Thursday of every month!
Here's all the info:
Promoters SO:NI (Sounds of N.I) will be throwing a very special party as part of their monthly series of showcase gigs in Lisburn, at Hague’s Bar on Chapel Hill.
This month’s show takes place on Thursday 27th May, and will be headlined by the Lisburn and Belfast based rock’n’roll band [b:48d0182baf]Pay*ola[/b:48d0182baf], who are celebrating the worldwide release of their 2nd album “Optimism Will Destroy Me” on the night. Pay*ola recently launched the album with a huge show in Belfast’s Empire Music Hall, though the band are looking forward to the more “intimate” hometown setting of this release party. The boys, whose enviable live reputation has seen them invited to play all over Europe, will be fresh from some Scottish dates to launch the CD to their fans there, and promise a truly explosive show on the night. The album will be on sale at this gig for only £5, and will also soon be available on download sites such as iTunes, through a deal signed with N.I label Rubidium Records. Many Pay*ola tracks can be previewed at www.myspace.com/payolarock
Special guests on the night are a new, female-fronted modern rock outfit from Lisburn – [b:48d0182baf]The Everyday Superheroes [/b:48d0182baf]– another band with a growing live reputation and following, combining deceptively sweet vocals with a tough musicality.
Also on the bill and bringing something very different to proceedings are Lisburn indie-rock favourites [b:48d0182baf]Invinyl[/b:48d0182baf], taking a break from their search for a new drummer to play an exclusive acoustic performance, their first ever as a 3-piece! A band with quality songs, often likened to The Stereophonics, Invinyl always deliver live.
Kicking off the night, and playing only their 3rd live show is another Lisburn outfit – [b:48d0182baf]Full Rejector[/b:48d0182baf]. A band formed from the ashes of local upstarts PalMal, their live energy and raw attitude augur well for the future.
Doors open at 8.30pm, and admission is still only £3.50. A warm, friendly and inviting atmosphere is always guaranteed at the SONI nights, which are held in the city on the last Thursday of each month. For all details on the shows visit www.myspace.com/onesonimusic - or join them on Facebook by searching SONI Live on that website.
Really looking forward to this gig - it's always a real, old-school rock'n'roll show! We had a blast at our Scottish album launch gigs last weekend, and we're also playing at the Diamond Rock Fest in Ahoghill this Saturday, but as that one's sold out - get down to this! Album will be on sale for a fiver, and it looks like the "official" release date is going to be 21st June.
