Belfast rock’n’roll band Pay*ola return Portrush to play a special North West 200 weekend headline show at The Retro Bar on Saturday 15th May. This show is a traditional yearly event in ther Pay*ola calendar, and will also be one of the opening dates of their "Optimism Will Destroy Me" tour – the first to be undertaken to promote their forthcoming 2nd album, which showcases Pay*ola’s unique brand of powerful and melodic hard rock – the album can be previewed at www.myspace.com/payolarock. This CD is the follow-up to the band’s well received debut album “Try Everything Twice”, and features a selection of classic hard rock tunes. There will be copies of all the band's cds available at this show. Pay*ola are no strangers to the big stage, having played with acts as varied as Audioslave, Status Quo, Thin Lizzy, Bad Company, Embrace, Snow Patrol, Buckcherry and Jimmy Barnes, but no matter what the venue, the show is always passionate, energetic, punchy – and loud!
The boys’ previous releases (6 E.Ps plus the albums) have spawned some big local radio hits, and their live show has become renowned for its energy and entertainment value - truly an explosive performance!
A fantastic night out is promised for all lovers of live rock music. Apart from their own brand of rock’n’roll and truly unique delivery, the band also promise to throw in a few tunes from some of their classic rock heroes – so a blast of the likes of AC/DC, Kiss, Status Quo, SLF, Aerosmith and Motorhead can be expected! Doors at 9pm.
