I did a search but couldn't find much help in there.
So who is the best in Belfast/N Ireland for management of bands?
That's my humble advice anyways. And in the end, you won't have to pay some self-hyped 'manager' to do things that could be easily done by the band yourselves.
I like how the guy in the pic is clearly keeping an eye on the woman doing the wallpaper.
Band managers operate on a kind of catch 22 platform. They get 20% of everything you make but without one there's a possibility you mightn't make anything at all. My advice is if you don't want to manage your own band find a really enthusiastic and confident mate who is prepared to put the hours in for you.
if u cant do as above then why not give hels bells a wee call, she can point u in the right direction im sure and might be able to get u some gigs etc.ive always done my own promotions etc....prob why im having a pot noodle just now instead of a steak!
Thanks for the words people. Myself and the other guys in the band have been pretty much managing ourselves up to now. Tho we need someone more dedicated to that side of things and more time for that. Thought I would shop around and see what the possibilities are out there.
A competent manager with some good contacts can be worth his/her weight in gold.
"Competent" is a very wide-ranging word. Very hard to measure for it. Don't be fooled by big talk. There are probably as many "managers" who want to 'hit the bigtime' as their are bands.
ANYONE can call themselves a manager. HGV drivers probably have more official credentials than the average manager.
As they are all human, managers have weak points and strong points. Be wary. Sign nothing early.
Hey guys, sorry for butting in on your topic but I actually manage a band at the moment and am currently aiming towards managing multiple bands in the near future. I don't work on a 20% basis, I work on a 15% basis. If anyone is looking my services just reply to this message...
