HANNAH PEEL & SILHOUETTE
PLUS DJ SETS FROM DEADONMUSIC DJ’S
14 MAY 2010, McHUGH’S BASEMENT, QUEENS SQUARE, BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND
With a gift for violin, trombone, piano and music box her live performances are always something special and she’s not afraid to turn her hand to any genre of music from 80s pop to traditional English folk tunes using her unique instrumentation to give that olde world feel. Hannah also performs with The Unthanks, Blue Roses and will be best known to Northern Irish audiences as part of David Ford’s live band with whom she has played several sold out Irish shows. A host of live dates, music and audiovisual festivals and a recent appearance with The Unthanks on Jools Holland’s BBC2 show are helping to raise the profile of her stunning solo work in preparation for the 2010 release of her double EP Re-Box.
Silhouette was created by Shauna Tohill in late 2007 after the break-up of her previous band, Angelfall. After great experiences in various bands, Shauna felt it was time to do something which she had always wanted to do... create music that broke down the boundaries of traditional line-ups providing a raw, honest and truthful edge, hopefully offering some kind of accessible and therapeutic effect - whilst continuing to place emphasis on the music as opposed to the creator.
OUTLAW is a club night blending together the songwriting traditions of Belfast and her twin city Nashville. With a policy of good music drawing on country, folk, blues and rock and roll influences it’s the perfect place to kick back on a Friday, have a drink, have a dance or check out some brand new tunes.
