The event may still be a few months off, but the submissions period for the 2010 Glasgowbury Music Festival is now open!
For all the information on to how to submit, go to www.glasgowbury.com
Also check out the 2009 promo documentary over on our myspace...
small but MASSIVE!
The promo looks nice. When's the full thing coming?
There were a number of videos shot on the day. There are still some to be uploaded in the near future but some were shown only once at the festival film premiere event back in October.

that promo video is effin cracker!
Hahaha! The kissing couple!
They were at other for near enough the whole of The Jane Bradfords set - the ears must have been busting off them!
Also, if those of you who were at the festival last year could take the time to fill out this short online survey, the group would really appreciate it. And you'll be entered into a draw for a pair of tickets to this year's festival!
Here's another short documentary in a guided tour style of Glasgowbury 2009 featuring a little bit of everything the day had to offer:
holyshit balls, another epic video. i cant feckin wait for this year

They were at each other pretty much the whole day. They were right at the front for WAR, amongst the moshers, having a right maul. We nearly ran them over on the way back home as they decided the middle of the road would be a good place to go for it again.
I will go to this, if the Suicide Dolphin Bombers are booked.

Class. It's only ever going to get bigger!!
Submissions for this year's festival are still open and there's been a massive response so far. Interested bands/acts still have til the end of March to get theirs in and you'll find all the info here.
Stunning views for a stunning festival - let's just hope the weather's as nice in July!
Good stuff McIntyre! Very much looking forward to this year.
Seasick Steve for Glasgowbury ![]()
A little birdy told me to be eligible to play at Glasgowbury you first have to play a gig somewhere in Draperstown, is this true??
No, not true DT. The G Sessions take place in Draperstown once a month but you don't have to play at them to play Glasgowbury.
It's all about getting your submission in before the end of March, all info here
Just got asked to work again this year. I canny wait! I hope we get playing too though
![]()
Thanks for the info McIntyre, a submission is on its way.
No worries, the submissions close at the end of the month - next Wednesday - so interested parties should get theirs in as soon as they can to be in with a shout.
Also, just on a side note, what's everyone's wishlist for Glasgowbury 2010 looking like so far?
ASIWYFA, Mojo FURY, LaFaro, Adebisi Shank, Rams Pocket Radio
and of course, Deadlights ha!
I had to say it, I just had to
ASIWYFA, Mojo FURY, LaFaro, Adebisi Shank, Rams Pocket Radio
and of course, Deadlights ha!
I had to say it, I just had to
Lafaro headline would be cool as fuck. asides from that.
Maybe some more heavier punk/even metal bands to play.
whatever happens itl rock emmencly
Id like to see the Hubris and Ozzmium at this.same for Colly Strings and Shotgun.id also like to see bare naked breasts and lots of beer.
hope my wishes are granted.
well in terms of harder stuff Jackalfeud and a wee band from limavady called Exit-wound should be given the chance, Ozzmium are really good too wouldnt say no to those lads either, the Nocturn boys are back on track now aswell. Any other genre and I'll give you a list you should book. www.myspace.com/afrofurypromotions
Adebisi in a tent would be awesome...
Rupture Dogs? Ablespacer? Axis Of? Cities We Captured? Team Fresh? FWW? ASIWYFA? Black Bear? Loadsa great acts to choose from....
ASIWYFA, lafaro, team fresh, pocket billiards, AXIS OF

Just a heads up to let interested acts know that the submissions period closes this week and full info can be found at www.glasgowbury.com
There's been a record number of submissions so far so make sure you don't miss out on the festival's tenth anniversary...
would be cool to see more acousticy business. eg. niall lawlor of Axis Of doing an acoustic set of their songs !!
Bands like Ed Zealous, Fighting With Wire again would be great also a few bands ive spotted over the last coule of months that stand out for me would be Burn The Canvas & Kobi
There has been a record number of submissions for this year's festival and Glasgowbury want to say a massive thanks to all who sent us their work.
All being well announcements regarding the line-up will be made in the coming weeks.
Also, there's another pair of tickets up for grabs to this year's festival for completing this AIF Sponsored Survey
Would be killing for some more ASIWYFA, Lafaro (they HAVE to surely?), Team Fresh, Adebisi Shank, The Q and an oul established band like SLF or Therapy? I'm not gonna kid myself into thinking I'll not go if my wishlist isn't fulfilled though
DEVINE COMEDY to headline would be amazing!
ASIWYFA, LaFaro etc etc are all great but they have dominated Glasgowbury for the past few years!!!!
I hope Glasgowbury can be a little more ambitious this year (like 08 and 07) and blend the best local acts with some big Irish acts that we don't see week in week out throughout the year. i.e D.C, The Frames, Lisa Hannigan, Saw Doctors, Waterboys, Therapy? Sinead O'Connor (haha)!, Jape!
Cast of Cheers are the best band in the country hands down and should also play!
We have another pair of tickets to give away to this year's festival for anyone willing to complete this survey as composed by the Association of Independent Festivals (AIF).
Your support would be greatly appreciated and the survey will only help us to improve the festival...
Completed!
Would love to see The Answer, FWW, LaFaro, Therapy? and of course Stand-Up Guy ![]()
Cheers Mullan. Announcements regarding the line-up and tickets will be made soon so hopefully we can fulfill as much of yours, and everybody else's, line-up wishlists!
Just a heads up...
Tickets for this year's event will go on sale from Monday 24th May and will be priced at £30 (festival only) and £40 (festival and camping).
More info to follow in the next few days. Keep an eye on www.glasgowbury.com for all details.
£40 you say? That's some jump in previous years. I'm anticipating a great headlining band!
More of a covering cost for security etc for the campsites which were missed last year.
Still though, will be a cracking price for 60 odd acts and a few added surprises throughout the weekend.
I was thinking that. Especially after last year when the site had to extend to the old field.
Full ticketing details are now online ...here...
This year, tickets will be sold through HMV stores across Ireland, HMVTickets.com and their call centre. Tickets will also be available from local independent stores throughout the country where HMV stores don't exist.
Online sales (e-tickets) at HMVtickets.com will begin on Monday 24th May and tickets will go on sale in stores the following week - Monday 31st May.
Festival only (£30) and Festival and Camping (£40) + booking fee.
Line-up details will be announced next week...
small but MASSIVE!

the press launch was 5.30pm last thursday, when the line up was announced.
the public event was also last thursday, at 8pm.
Are you the organiser McIntyre? If so, do you require the services of a photographer for the event? I dropped a email off to the media email address for glasgowbury anyway.

I think the Furlo boys are organising a bus - might be best to get in touch with them first. Alternatively Glasgowbury will be looking into bus routes next week and they'll be posted here and at www.glasgowbury.com
Yeah Furlo are organising a bus.
@ McIntyre; do you know if you camp in the campervan site are you allowed into the main campsite and vice versa?
I'll double check this. Essentially you have to purchase a camping ticket anyway when you're coming with a campervan, so you should be able to come and go from the camp site as you need. Although those not officially booked into the campervan section will not be able to get in.
Okay I'll keep an eye on this topic to see when you find out for sure... Would like to be bringing a van, but don't want to be missin out on the campsite craic ![]()

Glasgowbury will create history this week as the first ever festival to stage a launch in HMV!

Glasgowbury are pleased to announce a travel partnership for this year's festival in association with Chambers Coach Hire.
The NI wide service will run a programme of return bus services from throguhout the province over the festival weekend in support of greener initiatives and public transport.
Paddy Glasgow is hopeful that people will avail of the services in support of a greener festival experience:
“With so many people travelling to a rural area we would like to encourage public transport where possible and are excited that Chambers will be offering this wide reaching service," he said.
For more information and to book a spot on a bus leaving your area, see THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE
Thanks McIntrye, all my questions are answered, does anyone care to have their palms read? Ill do a 15 minute reading for £20 but worth it &,what's the ticket situation? It will be a fornight till I can afford my ticket
You can read my palm, but unless it's good news I won't be paying you ![]()
You should still be able to get your ticket in a fortnight, I'll keep you posted if they run dangerously low.
Sweet. Do you know what part of Newry the bus picks up?
Will know the exact locations for all pick up points at the start of the week - Chambers will be able to tell you this when you book your place too.
It's imperative that you book a spot with them beforehand by contacting them directly otherwise the service won't run.
Fair enough
out of ignorance and interest...why is it called glasgowbury?
Cause of Paddy Glasgow creating the festival.
Pretty much. Started out as a joke by a friend of Paddy's and it's stuck for the last ten years. Be hard to change it now me thinks!
McIntyre, just out of interest, is the running order knocking about as of yet? Times aren't much of an issue, I was just wondering who was playing each stage for an article I'm writing.

Should be finalised this week. What's the deadline for your article? PM me if you need any info and I'll keep you posted elsewhere.
Just out of curiosity, is anyone thinking about going to this year's Glasgowbury that's never been before?
If you are just going to Glasgowbury for the day I'm organising Day return coach travel from Belfast for only £10. I have 1 slight request. As I'm trying to run this coach for almost cost price I need people to contact me ASAP so that I know what size of bus to put on. You do not need to pay in advance just book your seats and pay on day. So come on contact me ASAP.
John
Please visit my website for all details.
www.coachestoconcert.co.uk
John just rang me to say his day return coach isn't on any more.
McIntyre, any chance of Chambers doing a day return? I really can't be arsed with the whole camping thing and I'm sure I'm not alone.
Hi Stevie. The reason I decided not to do day return bus to Glasgowbury is that they stopped putting my details on their website. It would appear they only want Chambers to organise bus travel. Must say I'm a little disappointed by this as I was the first person to organise coach travel to Glasgowbury many years ago at almost cost price.
This year I was doing it for a tenner but they decided not to promote this.
John Q.
Hi John. I was under the impression that your service was still running which is why I updated the website accordingly with all relevant details yesterday - including the transport page and a story with important travel information. The point was to encourage all options, not just Chambers. Can you confirm if this service has now stopped and I will remove your information?
Stevie Mac - If John has decided to cancel his service, I'll get on to Chambers at the start of the week and see if they'll do a day return service.
Hi McIntyre. Of course I'll do Day return. At the time I looked on your website on Friday my details had disappeared so I assumed ( wrongly ) that Chambers were doing the whole shebang.
Thanks
John
ps I've stopped huffing now!!
![]()
Great news John, I'm sure those who booked will be pleased! There was some website maintenance taking place yesterday so things were on the move for a while.
Stevie Mac - she's back on!!
That's more like it!
Hey folks, I see tickets via HMV online have the standard £2 booking fee and a delivery charge of £1. Does anyone know if the booking fee still applies if you buy them from the HMV store in town? And is Belfast Guitar Emporium still selling them this year?
Yeah, the booking fee still applies even if you buy instore.
Booking Fee applies in stores as well (but not the £1 delivery fee of course) and Guitar Emporium aren't selling them - they're not even going anymore I think.
If you can make it to Draperstown we won't charge you a booking fee, although I realise the petrol would more than make up for that!
The Beat Carnival will return to this year's festival with a host of colourful carnival capers and exciting artistic adventures.
The Belfast group will introduce a 'Pimp My Booty' section for decorating your wellies; 10th anniversary graffiti towers for you to leave an individual message and mark; site decorating, flag making and sign scribbling stalls; as well as walk about puppet shows, dance classes and their legendary samba carnival parade!
Full info ...here...
Tickets are also going strong so try and get yours soon if you can!
That sounds like so much craic!
It will be! Do you remember last year when we had awesome signs like these:

Hey McIntyre, any confirmation on Campervanners being allowed into the main campsite?
Hi Alan - campervanners will be allowed in to the campsite as they will have to purchase a camping ticket anyway and the campsite will only be located a short distance away from the campervan site.
Also, have you emailed info@glasgowbury.com with your details to book a campervan spot? If not, you need to do that asap.
Thanks McIntyre, will get onto that!

Maybe it's sold out?
It's not, as I've just bought one online.
Yea well i bought it online eventually on another computer but i have another problem now! Is there anyway around having to bring the debit card with the ticket?
No, not sold out yet, but if anybody's having problems with getting tickets, email media@glasgowbury.com immediately and we'll look into it.
Are HMV asking that you bring a debit card along as proof of purchase? Would have thought some ID would have been enough...
Forgot to mention that Hot Press with the free Glasgowbury CD will only set you back £2! Even Jay-Z looks stunned...

Yea it says on the ticket they emailed me that I need to bring the debit card used to purchase the ticket. The problem is is that its my ma's and she doesn't want me to have it for the weekend. Stella (?) emailed me and said i could use a photocopy
so i think i'm fine now (?)
Everybody get their copy of Hot Press with the free Glasgowbury CD?
Great festival coverage with some of this year's acts too.
On sale now for the ridiculously low price of £2!
Hi McIntyre. Do you know if Day festival tickets are sold out at HMV. It's just that some people wanted to book day reurn with myself but said HMV were sold out!! I assume they can pay on day at festival?
John - day tickets are not sold out yet, don't know why people couldn't get their hands on them. Tell them to get in touch at info@glasgowbury.com and let us know where they were trying to buy them.
If any stores are running low, you can still get them online.
just booked a ticket online, £2 booking fee and £1 delivery fee, then it said my ticket will be sent in an email and i just need a printout of it...then why the delivery fee? (just curious...not bitching...really) come to mention it, said email has not yet been received. i know it says 24 hours but those things are usually immediate no?

Is there any buses on Saturday morning? Cause i'm stuck in work on friday night.
If not, there's parking near(ish) isn't there?
HELP!
Hi there might be seats on the Furlo bus that leaves on saturday morning.
Its in the limavady area.
Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near Limavady.
Is it alright just to go down in the car??
I'm covering every act playing in Glasgowbury, stage by stage.
Up first:
The G Spot: featuring Chipzel, Paul Casey, Bronagh Gallagher, Building Pictures, Aaron Shanley, Junior Johnson, Paul Shevlin and Little Hooks.
Apologies for the shoddy journalism.
Hi RadioWolf - Yeah, you can park near to the festival site - it's abut a mile away. And there's shuttle buses running up and down the road to the festival site at regular intervals over the weekend.
If you're in Belfast and want a day return, John Quigley is organising a day return for £10. See www.coachestoconcerts.com for more info and to book.
Muzu TV have a pair of tickets for this year's festival up for grabs and the competition ends today!
See www.muzu.tv/glasgowbury for more information
So I went into HMV [Belfast city centre] today and they told me that they'd sold out of day tickets?
Some places have sold out of tickets - best to get them online at hmvtickets.com for the meantime while we assess the situation/numbers etc.
not that anyone seemed concerned, but i was right. I paid £1 "delivery" fee only to have the ticket emailed to me! I want answers, i wont let this go!!!! LOL
Sorry Steve, you know how these companies can be...by the way did you get confirmation via email yet?
HMV in Belfast will be getting a further allocation of tickets this afternoon - in the meantime get them online if you can. They've been moving super fast, so try and get them asap if you're planning on going.
And yes, the weather is looking good!
Squeaky bum time as they might say...
what time does the campsite open on friday?
6pm

hey, i managed to get my hands on one camping ticket last night via hmv-online. unfortunatly it happened to be the last one, and im in desperate need of one more. i was wondering if i bought a day ticket, would there be any way i could upgrade it to camping at the gate this evening? its a shared tent, therefore no other tent space is required with the purchase. and of course i will pay the extra for the upgrade? please is there any way you can help me?
contact me on: 07927174135
any kind of help would be appreciated! thanks.
Annie - purchase a day ticket for the other person and explain your situation at the gate. I can't guarantee anything however.
thanks so much! i would've had my ticket a long time ago, only i had to wait to see a midwife yesterday morning to confirm it would be ok for me to go. lol. being 6 months pregnant and all. goes to show though, the things you'd do for glasgowbury!!
ah
well

Cheers
Paul

What's the site looking like? Muddy much? And what about the weather? Just trying to work out if I need boots or am fine with trainers...
Was on site yesterday. Its not muddy at the moment but it is wet enough underfoot to necessitate wellies. They seem to have worked hard to make paths between stages etc
Can I be first to say that it was cless? OK. That was cless.
congrats to paddy and stella! what a weekend!
team fresh, HCTLG, pocket Billiards duke special and cashier were the highlights!
General Fiasco and ASIWYFA were just simply amazing.

Yes it was a really great day out in a stunning setting. Loved not squares, lafaro, cashier, team fresh and duke special.
Low point: triggerman getting moved to the earlier slot, meaning I missed one of the bands I was dying to see.
ASIWYFA's new tune - what a treat! My third year there and it was definitely the best yet. I saw so many acts and the atmosphere and friendly vibe can't be topped. Mmmm.
That was simply amazing. As someone who struggled to enjoy themselves last year (lots of work, bad weather, etc) this year was a complete treat.
That was one of the best festivals I've ever been to. Everyone was in a good mood, the weather was GREAT, the bands all seemed to do really well, some brilliant performances (I particularly liked Fight Like Apes), and a nice hamburger.
Congrats to all the bands playing, and everybody involved in the Glasgowbury Media Group for what they achieved.
Also, a wee shout out to team BBC who did brilliantly on site, inspiring no small amount of pride in this twisted old hack's bosom. I got very emotional during Fighting With Wire.
Highlights on BBC Introducing with Rory McConnell on Radio 1 (and Radio Ulster) this week!
(Highlights of the festival, that is. Not me getting emotional. You can get that at any time, if you know where to look.)
That was my third G'bury and EASILY the best I've been to yet. It seemed that even the really early bands drew a lot of fans which was great to see. I loved ASIWYFA (Hearing the new song made it worth missing Team Fresh for...almost. They really shoulda thought about that overlap) FLApes, Gascan Ruckus, The Q, but to be honest there wasn't much to dislike. The sound on the main stage for me was a bit iffy but I'm sure that was the wind etc.
Definitely the best I've been to yet.
Anyone know if there's any tv coverage? I'd love to relive that...

Great day all round - the cheesey chips were amazin'
Actually, can I ask what may appear to be a silly question; can someone confirm for me what the craic was with backstage/on-stage photography this year?
I saw a lot of behind/on-stage photography going on throughout the day, and may be wrong but simply presume that not that many people as appeared to be doing it would have been given that provision; particularly for General Fiasco/Fighting With Wire.
...just curious. As I said though, may be a silly question.
Absolutely awesome festival!
Highlights were definitely Furlo and ASIWYFA.
FWW, Jackson Cage, Captain Kennedy and Henrietta Game also ranked well up there!
ASIWYFA new track was great, got a setlist and Chris' drumstick too - no complaints there!
Glasgowbury's 10th Birthday - ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED!
CHEERS PADDY!

I had access to G-Sessions as I was recording it for R1 and used a 200mm lens to get that shot above so wasn't really being obtrusive - ASIWYFA was the only band I photographed from backstage. Was it very prevalent Mathew?
couldn't say enough nice things about this years event, though i can say it's the most fun i've had in a field watching bands in years (and i go to an awful lot of festivals)
SO many outstanding performances - a plastic rose, not squares fight like apes, silouette etc etc all brilliant and got the response they deserved.
weather really helped, cocktail bar was a real treat and as stephen says everyone seemed in amazing form.
just an incredibly special day
*teary*
Absolutely brilliant day. Highlights for me were More Than Conquerors, ASIWYFA, Cashier and Fight Like Apes.
Some photos over here: link

As I said, personally I have no other interest other than curiosity, I'm all for people covering a band from all available points that are not intrusive - at the end of the day, I'd have given my left testicle to shoot Fighting With Wire from the stage, and my right testicle, two toes and one of my eyes to shoot ASIWYFA from (back)stage - however it is worth pointing out the number of photographers who appeared to have free reign - some of which I'm sure did, but I imagine not all of them.
...I also noticed a lack of security in the tents, and saw many a person in taking photos without any kind of pass. I personally have zero problem with this providing no one gets in the way, photography is photography after all, but at the end of the day the festival rules should have been adhered to and respected in my mind.
Again, apologies if I seem badgerish on the matter Decky - and hopefully this doesn't actually need said,...great fucking shot chief.
Massive thanks from all the G Team to everyone who helped make Saturday a success. Judging by reactions and feedback, Glasgowbury 2010 seems to have been one of the most all-round enjoyable festivals yet. Great people, great bands, great weather, great times.
And even a few celebs dandering about - coming to Glasgowbury to get away from the hustle and bustle of life - none other than Prince Caspian himself and I'm pretty sure I saw Aiden Gillen from The Wire/Queer As Folk too. If it wasn't him then some guy was getting a lot of unwarranted attention ![]()
All in all a great day so here's to the rest of summer and to next year.
Views, reviews, thoughts all welcome; bring it on!

Well, I did attract quite a lot of attention out there, that is true...
...Niall, I don't think it needs said, but will of course shout it loud - Glasgowbury was utterly fantastic, and one couldn't say nor thank yourself and the other 'G-Cohorts' enough for the weekend that was had.
Counting down to next Summer already!

If you didn't catch him Junior Johnson was amazing! Definately a highlight for Me!
Thanks Paddy and Crew for yet another wonderful Glasgowbury!
I had a bloody brilliant time. High quality bands, ridiculously (for a festival) cheap drink and a great crowd. Well done Paddy and the crew!
First two features are up on Secret Fireworks now:
The Good, The Bad and The Fugly ( a general punter's review of the festival )
LaFaro review
I'll be updating throughout today.
Cheers Matt, I think this year has really hit a nerve with a lot of people and the feedback right across the board has been really exciting and honestly thrilling to hear.
And yes indeed, bring on next year - with gusto!
yeah, it was unreal, really happy with our set and how well we wer treated. Lafaro, Pocket Billiards, strait laces were all highlights. Cant wait to see how it grows next year.
Amazing
Fair point - how would you like to see it grow (if at all) for next year?
Amazing festival. I'm still recovering!!!
If been thinking about this, how big can it get without losing the small but massive ethos?
hmmm, maybe they should change it then, to "It's fucking massive!"
I think the festival would benefit from having some/any sort of entertainment on the Friday night.. Perhaps dj sets, or an open-mic in one of the smaller tents, or a cinema screen, or an air guitar competition.. Just something. It would be nice to have a relaxing alternative to getting blitzed and bingoed in the campsite, which seemed to be what most people resorted to. Actually, bingo in the Spurs of Rock stage would be class.
Congratulations to all those involved with this years festival. T'was superb (despite there being no bingo).
Pigstock proved that the open air cinema playing through the night is a fantastic idea.
2 days of bands, would be best to me. Although it was amazing, i just felt it was all over to quickly especially if you only got up on saturday.
I would love another day, even if it was just a night of a few bands on the Friday. That'd be phenomenal!
i agree with pocket promise, if there was some sort of entertainment on the friday night it would be much much better.
I would have liked two days but on the sunday rather than friday, although i wouldn't have liked there to be many more people. I thought the crowd was a nice size full of nice people ![]()
