    Absolutely epic.

Great turn-out, impressive performances from everyone, and a great night overall.

I know it's become so cliched as to become meaningless, but Axis Of really are ones to watch in 2010. It's all theirs for the taking.

Anyone know of any snaps are online from last night show?

I really hope it is the case (well, always been convinced their time would come).

Having followed closely the developement of the band in its 3 years of existence and having seen how these guys have been busting their balls to unbelievable level, I feel they most certainly deserve big things.

They're one of the most surprising bands in the last few years.

I'll openly admit that I wasn't impressed by their earlier stuff, completely failing to see what the fuss was about.

Last night I witnessed a band who are totally in charge of what they are doing, are active enough to DO something about it, and have the passion to actually care about things.

Without wanting to get too carried away, I was reminded of what Fugazi must have been like when they first started (not so much in sound, but in feeling).

I've been waiting a long time for a band like this.

Well, I was always a fan of the sort of stuff they did. Maybe only exception made for the EP, which was still quite an improvement from their previous bands.

But all the rest is spot on. They most certainly are passionate about what they do and you can feel it talking to them and see it when they are on stage. Made all the better about the fact that they most certainly care about what they sing about and that they are not afraid of working extra-hard to get what they want.

Judging from how things have evolved, I am most certainly sure that the stuff we are hearing now is not their best yet. They are most certainly going to evolve the sound even further and if Ewen listening habits are anything to go by, it's going towards a very interesting direction.

    Stage diving?!? FUCKING BASTARDS!

Next time they better have some sort of epic release of ome sort when I am in the same country or I will be disappointed.

Anyway, is there anyone well versed enough in Axis Of to tell me if they have dished out new tunes?

EDIT: As for pictures, Ciara McMullan has some up on her personal Facebook page, not sure about the MySpace one though.

EDIT #2: I also don't understand this kind of lukewarm opinion of The Cities We Captured, they are absolutely great but not for the reason most people would think. Hell, I even think that calling them post-rock is not really that correct at all.
Not sure if they do it on purpose or not, but they have some really heavy and slow bits that really remind me of some good old fashioned sludge, to stretch it even further, for some reason some parts remind me of Kylesa and it's quite shocking that a good few music journalists completely overlook this.

I was thinking like bits of Pelican/Red Sparrowes or like a less heavy Neurosis.

I thought they were good, but they need to be careful to avoid some fairly cliched post-rock trappings. That kind of thing's been done before, a million, billion times, and whilst I'm not saying they're guilty of it, I could see them lapse into it.

Never heard of Kylesa, if I'm honest.

Yeah, I agree that some parts are just plain textbook post-rock that gets old and boring quite fast. But the slow and heavy parts are the tits! It would actually be very interesting if they go down that road rather than the post-rock road.

Also, if you like Pelican or Neurosis and the likes, you might appreciate Kylesa. It's still very experimental and in some cases heavier than Neurosis (they have two drummers because apparently they play their instruments too loud to hear just one set of drums).

not really sure where is best to do this.

But here will do for now. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH. As you could tell it meant alot to us, our aim was 100 and we doubled that. So fucking stoked and we really can't get across how pleased we are.

Great to see people give a shit, especially on a shitty rainy cold Tuesday night. And the Friends of the earth crowd/Love music hate racism crowd, commented on how open minded and interested everyone was, which just fucking tops it all off.

Hope to get a another single out their by summer. And next time i wanna see a fucking circle pit!
    Much love
