    [b:c79796a40b]When is a scratchy pot not a scratchy pot?[/b:c79796a40b]

i built an amp recently and i've been putting it through a few hoops.

Long story shortened: the volume dropped out and the pots were all scratchy. The problem was a tone capacitor that had shorted thus leaking DC voltage to the next valve stage.

If anyone else has noticed this phenomenon, has sprayed the pots only to scratch your head even more, there's a possible alternative for you.

PS the cap was rated at 500V with 200V on it - go figure!
