We're sitting here, in the CDC offices having a debate on who we think will be the next big Festival Headliner's for next year. Not Comeback bands or Bands/artist that have already headlined but a new band/artist that will rise through all the rest and be massive!

    Any Thoughts??
  2. avatar anty2
    Florence
    Dead Weather
    Port O Brien
    John Butler Trio
    Wolf Parade
    Maccabees

and if you do decide to allow possible band reunions then white zombie
  3. avatar The Limelight
Would love to see wolf parade get there.

They are awesome. I have their first 7".

    On invisible vinyl.

    white lies.
  7. avatar Deadlights
    Biffy motherfvcking Clyro
  8. avatar Desus
There are big albums coming from Biffy and Editors. One of them might tip to that size.
  9. avatar tenrabbits
    Friendly Fires
  10. avatar my-angel-rocks
    Which festivals?
    All of them?
  11. avatar tinpot anto
My prediction is that Friendly Fires will release one more single that will chart about 35, be dropped from their label and never heard from again.

    Faux-alt-country is dead.

You heard it here first :)

Hopefully that'll be the last I hear of it too...

Think you're mixing up Friendly Fires with Fleet Foxes there, big Anto.
  14. avatar tinpot anto
Aye here so I am :-)

Carry-on only substitute as appropriate :)
  15. avatar tenrabbits
Anto you divvy.. Friendly Fires are flippin class too, only problem is they only have
a single album. I reckon if they release a second one as good, they'll be headlining
festivals no probs. Brilliant live act too.
  16. avatar NumberBlack
I like the sound of Biffy clyro and the editors.
  17. avatar Dirty Stevie Grizz
    Ringo Starr to headline Glastonbury
  18. avatar comprachio
I agree with Desus. That's the only two I can see potentially becoming a headliner for the 'major' festivals. Will have to be a band that releases a big album between now and next jan/feb realistically.

Friendly Fires are good but don't seem to have that crossover appeal.
  19. avatar exitonline
It depends if any of the big-hitting bands release an album between christmas and summer. I would say the Stereophonics would be one of the headliners for next year as they have a new album coming out around November. Otherwise it will be the usual suspects, snow patrol etc...I doubt any rising bands will suddenly jump up and headline glastonbury etc. Although I would say that The Gaslight Anthem will pick up even more steam over the next year and would be quite high up on festival bills next summer.
  20. avatar the_doctor199
I think Paramore could be a possible for the second stage of a few of the bigger festivals, they have a new album out soon I think.

For me, Biffy Clyro aren't a headline act, more of a warm up for the headliner.

Of the people who have headlined before though, i'd expect Greenday, Muse and Metallica to be at either Reading/Leeds or Download next year.
  21. avatar tenrabbits
Actually.. given the response I've seen him get at the last couple of festivals, and the quality of the show put on, I'd say if he carries on Calvin Harris will be headlining before long. Can't see it being as early as next year mind.
  22. avatar adamb1026
The same predictable anyway for Oxegen, T in the Park.

I really wouldn't be surprised if The Killers and Kol were headlining again.

But would love to see it be:

    Daft Punk
    Eric Clapton
  23. avatar Deadlights
    MGMT

Rumour has it, theyre working on their new album with the chemical brother, and oracular spectacular was an absolute masterpiece.

Seen them at Leeds and Oxegen last year and both times the tent was absolutley packed and has hundreds of people watching from outside.

I think, if theyre follw up albums any good, they could well be up around the top.

And what about bloc party? They are, afterall, supporting Radiohead this year at Leeds/Reading.

In case anyone thinks I'm slaggin' (or cares) it's the faux-alt-country I was hoping to hear the last of.
  25. avatar xfirefishx
I think Editors... they are starting to put on a really polished show and have that great familiar, anthemic vibe to their songs. Plus their new material is sounding really great live so by this time next year I'm sure they'll be top of some bills somewhere.
  26. avatar The Joker
If The Strokes reform for another album soon then they will be a big draw come next summer.

Maybe the Chemical Brothers as well.
  27. avatar NumberBlack
Actually yeah, I totally forgot about muse. They have a new album coming don't they? I could easily see them headlining.
  28. avatar Deadlights
The new muse single is fvcking 5h1t3
  29. avatar xfirefishx
Oh yeah, I forgot about Muse also.
Is their new single available on MySpace or anything? What's it called?
  30. avatar Deadlights
Muse - 'United States of Eurasia'

They sound like Queen. Personally, i dont like it at all. So if you liked Muse before, do yourself a favour and dont bother listening to it.

if, however, you wish to destroy your childhood dreams, you could prob catch it on listen back to zane lowe on radio 1 as he played it last night.
  31. avatar Recycled Alien
Yesbut. Supermassive Black Hole sounds like Prince, and it's still a cracker. I haven't heard the new Muse material, but if it's different to their previous releases, then good on 'em.
  32. avatar Deadlights
I didnt like the last album either , apart from assassin and knights of cydonia.

IMO, things started to go downhill after origin of symmetry and the hullaballo live dvd. That was an absolute masterpiece. Im not saying their career's have peaked because im sure they will get bigger, and im sure others will like their new stuff more than their old stuff, but for me they have already peaked musically.
