Can someone please explain what this is to me? I seem to be seeing it all over people's facebook pages.

    Has Translink been overrun?
  2. avatar Persistence
Well, it's a reference from an episode of the Inbetweeners, past that I don't *think* it's anything big...
  3. avatar The_Martyr
Which leads me further down the rabbit hole...

What is The Inbetweeners? Is it good? A lot of people seem to be talking about it too, but then a lot of people think Catherine Tate is good...

    Assistance, Persistence!
  4. avatar Persistence
The Inbetweeners is a series about a group of schoolmates in England - they're not popular enough to be cool, not geeky enough to be in the 'nerd crowd'...hence 'inbetweeners'.

I watch it, and it's kind of funny, but mostly very very juvenile; I'm 16 (target audience, apparently) and some of it leaves me cringing...lots of sex jokes, alcohol references and unrequited love. Not that there's anything wrong with that :P It's just that it seems to rely on those things to be funny. And fails.

It's alright. Not the most groundbreaking TV show ever invented.
  5. avatar dommccann
1st series was very funny. yes there were cringeworthy momnets but it had a hge amount of very witty one liners. it's just a shame the 2nd series didn't continue with this.
  6. avatar silvercord
See this is where i disagree. The Inbetweeners series 1 began at the very end of a series of skins and i couldnt quite grab the first series as there were a few points to deter me (mainly the age of the actors and the fact that they were playing characters younger than i am). I like the second series a Quer bit better its cruder funnier and not as reliant on the need to have to introduce the characters anymore, suppose this can be seen true with anything though...
  7. avatar greensleevesisgod
The inbetweeners only works for people who havent been in school in a while. The characters are just like people we all knew. The stupid one, the one that exaggerates and the shy one etc. It's brilliant. The best episode was when they went on the beak and Will went to the offies. Comedy gold.

    It's all free on 4OD.
  8. avatar Reckoner
What I've seen of it is a bit hit and miss. The narration seems a bit obselete at times and it tries a bit too hard to ape Peep Show, but it has some funny bits.
  9. avatar The Ronster
It's about 17 year olds, but not FOR 17 year olds. Its a schoolboy farce essentially, and if you like things like Peep Show you'll probably find something to laugh at in it.

I like it very much - it's one of the funnier looks at a tortuous time in the average male's sexual and social development.

    Your an idiot.
Its "not FOR 17 year olds"...
Of course it is. We all watch it... Just because you watch it doesn't mean its fucking aimed at you. Its aimed at a huge spectrum. from 12- whatever age you are.

I [i:ea833ece9d]was[/i:ea833ece9d] going to point out that the people that made the programme aren't the same people that classified it and made it an 18.. it was probably made with everyone from 16-30 in mind, really.

But sod that, I just want to say that your comeback there was one of the funniest things I've read, ever.

Oh, also, the first series was absolute genius. The second series was trying too hard and relied too much on repeating one-liners from the first. Still worth a watch but nowhere near as good.

Witty one liners. Aren't you just a wee star.
    Now.
    Number one:
Since when did the makers rate the DVD? Last time I checked that was the job of "the independent regulator of the film and video industry in the UK." Yes. It clearly states that on the BBFC's official website. That states absolutely NOTHING about the target audience. Face it, your wrong. Its aimed at the spectrum aforementioned.

    Number two:
What did you achieve today? "I hit a 17 year old with a wonderful and hilarious come-back making a gesture about his masturbation habits" feeling a bit of a hypocrite there son? Your hand still sore from that teenage mishap?

    Number three:
I didn't spot any spelling mistakes in my first post, but regardless, excellent lesson. Wait let me check .. I'd actually rather decline the tips from you, you "mong" (nice one on that by the way)

Finally I'm done, and believe me, this needs no reply...

You were wrong... Admit it next time mong...
    Haha
  20. avatar tinpot anto
A monumental fuck up really then that they couldn't get less than an 18 cert, thus completely excluding their target audience from legally buying the DVD and generating their income.

They must be fucking hitting themselves over the heads with their own ball sack.

I'd question Ron's suggestion that the cert defines the target audience completely, since in reality with on demand stuff and all that the BBFC markings are little more than guidelines and that those younger than 18 are very likely to be able to watch it as they'd like. It's very probable that a programme maker could target a rated 18 show at a younger audience.

But since his joke was so good i'll forgive him.

Sigh, you really want to know?

You made the classic, you-must-be-the-product-of-cousins-fucking mistake.

You typed 'your' instead of 'you're', and then, even worse, failed to spot it when it was pointed out to you.

The general idea is that writers/producers will devise a series with their subject matter aimed squarely at a certain demographic - obviously these demographics have grey areas but I seriously doubt that Bwark Productions had 12 year olds in mind when they created 'The Inbetweeners'.
  25. avatar ryan.sweet
Yousins all lining up for my replies?
Happily. Form a que, the lot of yous haha... Rip all your teeth out on this matter, limb from limb.

Ronster again son, after that masturbation mishap, fuck the women and pick up the dictionary did we? Is that how you got so awfully smart? Wiki-king? Witty-king? Or just downright douchebag hahahahahaha. Still feeling liberated over there? Away off to the green party son. There the only cunts who will take you.

Reckoner, aye I'm sweet thanks. How are you?

Imdead .. wrong. just leave hahaha. Course its aimed at 12 year olds. my 12 year old brother sees it as the coolest thing ever, watching how these older, immortal kids are actually not as cool as he once though. Life lesson for the boys.

Its aimed at everyone. Fuck up the lot of yee's (specially you ronster mong)

"I know you are, but what am I?" . . . a true classic comeback. Is the best you can do to repeat the insults thrown at you?

"I am rubber, you are glue"

Hahahaha yeah personal favourite of mine. Not watch the apprentice? Thought I'd combine a few of his classic sayings! Hilarious thing to say to someone isn't it?

No seriously though. I've only been joking. I was even joking up there about the senior. I'm not actually that much of a douche, that scathing or anything. It was funny to see how reactionary people got though.
Its one of those things. If you get a prank call, hang up straight away. People (obviously me included) thrive on this reaction. And I've thought this was hilarious

Once, when I was 12, I watched 'The Exorcist' and thought it was quite good - more funny than scary though.

Since I watched it, AND I liked it so much, I can only assume that, despite the adult themes and the dark subject matter, and disregarding the fact that it was actually banned at the time under the Video Recording Act of 1984, 'The Excorcist' was actually for kids!
