The monthly [b:c8b23c9d33]SO:NI [/b:c8b23c9d33](Sounds of Northern Ireland) showcase gigs in Hague's Bar, Lisburn, continue to go from strength to strength. Hot on the heels of the April show, which featured Pay*ola, PalMal and Invinyl - and was the busiest yet since the gigs commenced in January '08, comes another excellent line-up for May.
Headlining the show are Belfast rockers [b:c8b23c9d33]Redlight[/b:c8b23c9d33] - fresh from releasing their new E.P "Casa Del Redlight", this band are building a fierce live reputation in their home city and beyond, and are returning to the SO:NI Lisburn showcase to headline for the second time. Bored of the manufactured hip-hop and pop artists that control the charts today, Redlight strive to bring back “real” music to audiences through tight, loud, energetic and entertaining live performances. With top class tunes, and high grade musicianship - notably in the case of virtuoso lead guitarist Dave Guiney, Redlight are always worth checking out.
Support on the night comes from Lisburn's own [b:c8b23c9d33]Deadlights[/b:c8b23c9d33] - an alternative rock outfit playing their 3rd SO:NI showcase, and Banbridge band [b:c8b23c9d33]Last Known Addiction [/b:c8b23c9d33]- another excellent rock act led by the highly impressive Stephen Cairns, a singer with power and soul - making their SO:NI Lisburn debut.
As always the SO:NI nights are highly recommended to all live music fans, and are an atmospheric and enjoyable night out - fast becoming a Lisburn institution on the last Thursday of every month!
Doors open at 8.30pm, admission is £3.50, and all info on the shows can be found at http://www.myspace.com/onesonimusic This is also the place to visit if you're in a band from the Lisburn area who'd like to play a SO:NI show.
Please note the original post has been edited - M$R have unfortunately pulled out of this show due to management/contractual issues surrounding their appearance at the Download Festival just over 2 weeks after this show (!). It's disappointing for all concerned, but Redlight are a more than able replacement headliner, and it's still gonna be a great night!
Million $ Reload will still be appearing at the Summer Rocks 2 show in the Empire Music Hall on Thurs 18th June as guests to Pay*ola, with Take The Fifth & Jackknife also playing.
