    ...and apparently it's a double!

And it will be with us by the end of the summer!

    Now! Now! Now!

I predict a 6.4 review from PF when the album drops.
Few bands ever release a convincing double album and unfortunately I can't see the Lips pulling this off.
    Hopefully I'm wrong.

Nah...it'll be up there with Daydream Nation, Zen Arcade and Double Nickles on the Dime, right?

    Please....please...

The Flaming Lips can pull anything off in my book. I have complete faith in their genuis

That sounds a bit dirty, sorry!

    It does, rather.

    But I don't disagree...

At War With The Mystics left me a bit cold - they sort of fell off my radar after years of devoted listening because of it. I could be won back, but it'll be uphill work.

Smashing Pumpkins' Mellon Collie is the only double album I listen to with any regularity, and a bit of Palo Santo by Shearwater.

But what about the Foghat rule?

Ah yes, but was it was actually Foghats 7th album that was their first live album (which wasn't a double).

And anyway, that any fourth rock album must be double live is meaningless here because this must be the Lips 12th album so really they should have released 3 double live albums so far...

    :o

I know what you mean, but I have to say it's probably my favourite of their albums. There's such a density to the sound on it - it's like they've just lost themselves in a sea of pure sound.

Which is why most people hate it, actually.

Personally, I'm looking forward to a double album, even if it's padded with rubbish. I like failed experiments sometimes.

That new album Rooks by Shearwater is a bit class.. I never listen to mellon collie anymore though, siamese dream is the only Pumpkins album I listen to these days.

As for Flaming Lips.. I love their music when listening to it live, but it's always left me cold on headphones for some reason.
