Hey guys, im looking around for a decent laptop and was wondering if anyone would have any good sites to check out or hints or tips on what to look for.
Basically it would be an entertainment machine, games, watching films on etc. so it would need to be a decent spec. Willing to spend a fair bit on it to get a decent spec, but if possible without breaking the bank :-)
Oh yeah, and it would be PC, not mac.... sorry, they just dont do it for me!
I just bought a sony vaio vgn-fw11e for £649 from Marks and Spencer. (PC world are selling the bluray version for £800)
Its mega and is down from £700
widescreen HD screen, 250Gb hard drive with 3gb memory and 2.26GHz operating speed. DVD writer, 16.4 in screen, 1600x1900 screen resolution.
love love love it.
thats funny i was actually looking at that very model last night on pc worlds website, good to know its a bit cheaper elseware! thanky you!
any other websites to bookmark or check out over the next month or 2?
Lenovo (nee IBM) Thinkpads are pretty good. Completely solid, nigh on impossible to break (I dropped mine down a flight of stairs while it was open and it came out unscratched)
The only PC laptops I would think of buying are by Asus.
I hate Sony products. Lenovo are a solid choice if you can afford them though. Still, Asus take it for price/performance/quality.
The Sony Vaio mentioned above is seriously one piece of great kit.
Sony Vaio eh?
Do you know anyone with a Makro card you could borrow or have one yourself?
Because I was on their website and they have a Vaio, dual core t2300 (2GHz) 3gig RAM, 250gig HD, 15inch display, all for under 450 post tax.
