Sorry, I couldn't help but ask if anyone has pre-ordered this and/or plans on buying it? I've been playing the PC demo for the last 2 days flat out. I'm pumped about it coming out!

What about you, Rog? I know you played DoD back in the day. Any plans on getting L4D?

If you want to become 'Steam friends' with me, my login name is tenaciouscree@hotmail.com

Hopefully this is covered under 'General'.

If I can get through Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2 by release, then yes, I'll be there. Steam name Headtheball.

The demo is excellent, witches scare the bejesus out of me and the only way to play it is on expert and everyone has to have voicechat so you can hear people squeeling like girls when they get knocked down or a tank comes running around the corner.

So there.

Left for Dead, one of my favourite Lemonheads songs. I might go listen to Lovey.

If days were about 36 hours long, I might have time to play a bit, but aside from occasional diversions, Jack is currently a very dull boy.

I'll give you an add when I'm on the PC, Mr. Hate.

Rog, surely you could download the demo and give it a bit of love in the next 5 days (the remaining time on the demo). It's well worth it!

I cancelled my pre-order on Steam, though, due to the fact that Amazon are taking pre-orders at 19.97 instead of the 33 quid I paid on Steam - and that's WITH a 10% discount. I can wait 3 extra days for the sake of that.

Seen a trailer for it, kinda hidden on the xBox360, 'Orange Box'. I haven't played it, but I'm always interested in anything Valve does.

Any news on when HL2: Episode 3 is coming out?

Schweet.

The only reason i pre-ordered on steam was to get the early demo... i'm such a consumer whore.

The only problem i had with it outright was that the server browser was non-existent ( you got matchmade into games, ala xbox360 esque multiplayer, you cant select your own server ) But it seems valve saw the errors in their ways when about 90% of major game server companies told them they were pulling out, because there was no way for them to make money.

They've added the ability to mark your dedicated server with a server key. So if you have sv_search_key "xxx" it'd only matchmake you to servers that have the key set as xxx.

They also patched it up recently so now you can pop into the server browser by opening up the console and using "openserverbrowser" and you can join a game that way.

im a big gamer and a zombie movie aficionado but i just cant get into online gaming - you die every two seconds and its full of idiots! give me a good story any day.
11. avatar DontPetABurningDog
Left 4 Dead definitely has the "die every two seconds" thing licked, though. You're in for the duration, barring you're so poor that your team-mates won't heal you/rescue you.

If only there was a way to smack people for setting off the car alarms.
12. avatar Tele
Hate, they had that 'openserverbrowser' from the beginning, it was just useless because you had to 'unlock' your server from lobby-only joining.

Duncan, the way this game plays out is meant to be like an interactive zombie movie (four of them, rather) so there's less competition and more teamplay.

The car alarm thing is okay as long as the area is clear and you're all ready for the craic, otherwise it's a pain in the arse.

One thing that gets me is how people are bleating about 'Expert' being easy. Like, yeah you can get to the end of TWO OUT OF FIVE levels of a campaign, usually with poor health and/or no medicine. I can't wait to see what happens in mission 3 of 'No Mercy' :D.

There is, a nice shotgun to the back usually sorts that out..

I like to hit the car alarm because its absolutely hilarious watching them pour from everywhere.. especially on expert.

Its the people that run past the witch with their flashlights on that piss me off the most. As she slaughters the whole team.
14. avatar DontPetABurningDog
The car alarm is fine if you're ready for it. If the apartments were rough, though, and you're only just about prepared for 10 or 20 infected, some tit deliberately shooting the car alarm is annoying as hell.

I'd love to see a mod that makes Boomer Bile act like the "it" monster in Gauntlet II.
15. avatar Tele
That's exactly what the Boomer does, though. If it sicks up on your teammate, they get specifically targeted by the ensuing zombie horde.
16. avatar DontPetABurningDog
Aye, but the "it" monster could be passed by touch to another team-mate. That's the bit I want. Just for the sheer, manic game of tig with shotguns craic of it.
