    Hello Mac users,

Just got my iMac there and was thinking I could use the monitor of my powerbook, as an extra portion of screen when doing mixing, etc. Anyone know what cabling I'll need for such an endeavour?! I have those 2 shorts monitor connectors that I got with the powerbook, but I've never actually made use of them, so I thought this would be an ideal opportunity.

    Anyone had any experience?!

you'd need a graphics card that allow dual display. nor sure if the new imacs have these though.

these are generally designed to be used with another external monitor, so not sure if it would work with a integrated laptop screen. the laptop screen would need to be powered, so the laptop turned on, and then presumably it would be taking signal from the laptop rather than the imac. So not sure it its possible.

I'd be very surprised if you can get anything [u:8b1323b548][b:8b1323b548]in[/b:8b1323b548][/u:8b1323b548] to the Powerbook display by hardware.

There are software solutions, but obviously, you'd need both machines powered up and talking to each other.

(If the iMac [u:8b1323b548]can[/u:8b1323b548] drive an external monitor in parallel, sell the powerbook and buy a monitor!)
