[b:8eb949d7c5]zavvi[/b:8eb949d7c5] at [b:8eb949d7c5]Victoria Square[/b:8eb949d7c5] will be opening at midnight this Monday to launch the new Oasis album, 'Dig Out Your Soul'.

The new album is superb! Their best in a long time...
    See you there!
  2. avatar noelyg05
I agree, just heard it the opener Bag it Up and Liams 'im outta time' our the stand out tracks for me
  3. avatar Deestroyer
I'm washing my hair that night.
  4. avatar Crackity_jones
I can't believe enough people get excited about an Oasis album launch to warrant a midnight opening. Jesus wept.
  5. avatar Chi-Lite
To be fair I never understood why you'd need to get an album at midnight like.

Sure just get it the next day, they're not gonna sell out. And, even if they do, sure they'll get more in soon enough.

Unless it's the limited edition 1985 original pressing of Dexy's Midnight Runners' "Don't Stand Me Down". I'd go down for that, I've been trying to get it off the ebay for donkeys.
  6. avatar pauldoherty
I'll not be there at midnight, but had a listen on Myspace and it def is better than everything they've done since Morning Glory.
'Im Outta Time ' is good,The Turning,Rapture,Falling Down and Bag it up.
I bet there is secret Oasis lovers all over Fastfude :-D they just dont want to admitt it

They just say they 'dig' the Foals instead
  7. avatar ShowYourBones
I've gave it a listen and have to agree that it aint all that bad to be perfectly honest. Its awash with Beatles references and there are a few bluesy numbers on it too which work well. Wont be rushing out to buy it mind, but its certainly not the worst album I've heard this year.

That said I'm sure there are a few Oasis fans out there who haven't liked anything off the last three or four albums and are just living in hope.

I won't be buying it, I won't be going down to Zaavi (unless I'm bored and can't sleep), I don't see the point in a midnight opening for an Oasis album. The only time I went to a midnight opening was for Harry Potter and The Halfblood Prince but that was only on a whim after the pub and by the time I got there the shop was closed. Gutted.
  9. avatar danbastard
I'll be too busy that night at midnight scratching my balls.

:smt015 Good god does anyone actually care about these purveyors of lowest common denominator dad rock? Anyone stupid enough to queue for this should be taken out in some kind of act of darwinism. It really would be better for the world as a whole
  11. avatar Chi-Lite
    Conversely though;

:smt015 Does anyone actually care about these purveyors of lowest common denominator dad-argument. Anyone stupid enough to bother engaging in the argument "Oasis are crap...no they're great...no they're crap" should be taken out in some kind of act of Darwinism. It really would be better for the world as a whole. :smt015

See how i turned that back on ye there. :-D

Arguing about how good or bad Oasis are is at least as boring as the music Oasis make, probably more so, because there's no air to it.
  12. avatar pauldoherty
Exactly if it bores you...why engage in conversation about them via this thread? SUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNSSSSHHHHHHHIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEE!!!

    Marty Loves them...dont ye Marty
  13. avatar Chi-Lite
    To be fair...

    no.

I used to like Definitely Maybe though, back when I was a wee 'un
  14. avatar dombrog
I know there's no real point in arguing about oasis, but this being a forum on musical opinion i thought i'd air mine. It's a shame oasis have lost all the potential shown on the first album down to what seems like a lack of invention but 7 albums in i doubt this will change. I honestly can't see there being so much demand for a shop to be open at midnight.
  15. avatar pauldoherty
to be honest I cant either....the days are gone when anyone would stand at 12 in town for an album....unless jesus made a comeback...
  16. avatar yurwell
    this'll be shite

The onl thing that makes me look forward to a new oasis album is that it will mean the gallaghers will be all over the place slabbering aout stuff, which is usually mildy enjoyable (unlike their music).
  23. avatar Stevie Mac
Jeez lousise I remember being at the midnight opening of Be Here Now at OurPrice. I shan't be at this one. Much as they were a large part of my youthful musical indoctrination, Oasis are past their sell-by date.

I was at the midnight opening for GTA4 mind.

Agreed. I mean come on, it's Oasis. This kind of shit should be happening for bands such as Sigur Rós or Animal Collective.
  25. avatar Mickeycolensoparade
    fuck off all yez.
  26. avatar Numbnut Sounds
I'd queue for weeks to shake Mark Chapmans hand
  27. avatar theavenue
Even just the sight of the Gallaghers makes me want to vomit all over myself. I loathe Oasis. I loathe everything they stand for and I loathe every song they've ever produced.
  28. avatar rl-vl
This is in 16 minutes, I really should have ordered my taxi by now.
  29. avatar frajam
God help us all. Would I be wrong in speculating that it may end up to be the same awl dribble they have been producing since the first album?

I went down to this. It was a big nothing. Just some pissed up spides on the scrounge and a couple of misguided mums there with their twelve year olds who looked a bit pissed off and confused about why they were there. One of the mums burst into tears when the kid called Oasis shite and said they needed their sleep because they had school in the morning. She said something like "go and live with your da then," to which the kid then burst into tears. Served the wee wanker right.
  32. avatar The Ronster
I have to say I'd be with the kid on that one...
  33. avatar Deestroyer
I think that story sums it all up beautifully. Beautifully.
  34. avatar pauldoherty
Its all a bit of nostalgia isn't it...the first band you got into etc......no-one is really saying Oasis are the force they once where...just a bit of Joe nostalgia......horses for courses,ma's for da's and all that jazz.....
  35. avatar Chi-Lite
To be fair, Doc, it's a bit balls if they're the first band you ever liked...especially at your age. :-D

The first band i ever, really, properly liked was the Sawdoctors. And since then they've just got better. So I'm in the happy position of still being a sawdoctors fanatic, and there's no need for shame, because they're still class.

    Yeeoo
  36. avatar pauldoherty
    I didnt mean ME......
  37. avatar spiceworld
yes it is a bit of Joe nostalgia alright...horses for courses, ma's and da's, groovers and ( hand )shakers...; )..

Just listening to the new tracks on their myspace, fucking brilliant! Judging from these it'll be better than Don't Believe The Truth. Just out of interest i'd like to see the Oasis fans list the albums in order of favourite. If you don't like them don't bother replying, fuck off.
