  4. avatar pauldoherty
Class news! Glad to hear it!
  5. avatar tinpot anto
The new album is out soon too, looking forward to it.
More of the same from what I've heard so far, but, happy days.
  6. avatar ShowYourBones
That has pleased me, especially since I have a hangover and am currently sitting in wet trousers.
  7. avatar pauldoherty
    It happens
  8. avatar thesacredhearts
Which came first, the pleased feeling or the wet trousers?

    Enquiring minds need to know.
  9. avatar ShowYourBones
    Believe me, you dont.

The new Kings of Leon track 'Sex on Fire' is Springsteen-esque goodness. Looking forward to hearing the new album.
  10. avatar flmcasey
    Can't wait for this! :-D

Although I do wish they'd play more stuff from Youth & Young Manhood
  11. avatar Danny Lynch
ill second that... but still, oxegen set was pretty damn good. cant wait for this gig now!! whoop whoop
  12. avatar PhatBob
I'll throw in another 'Whoop' there.
  13. avatar pure_love
i hate the twats. they should fuck off back to their daddys farm in kansas.

I will sleep well tonight knowing you expressed your opinion.

The Odyssey is shat for gigs though, if only they had the Ulster Hall up and running again, t'would have been spot on. But are they a little too big for that now?
  15. avatar thesacredhearts
Would have imagined st georges was an ideal spot for it.
  16. avatar ShowYourBones
Whats the sound in St Georges like? Heading to the Primal Scream gig and not sure what to expect.
  17. avatar thesacredhearts
Havent been, but by all accounts the mark ronseal gig was very good. They spent a bit of money getting some nice drapes in so it didnt seem so much like somewhere you'd buy a fish carcass.
  18. avatar ShowYourBones
Good stuff, was wondering how they would eradicate that feeling.

Belfast missed out on getting the Kings of Leon into a smaller venue when Youth and Young Manhood came out.

Edit (out of posts) - Desus, so yous did attempt to book them for the Mandela? Shame, I seen them in the New Bands Tent at Witnness around that time and knew big things were on the horizon.

An Ulster Hall gig would be splendid, awk well.

Not for the lack of trying!!
  20. avatar tinpot anto
Truly awesome saviours of Rock and Roll the KoL may be, but they really don't have the prescence of a big stadium band.

In the Ulster Hall I would imagine a KoL gig would scald your mind.
  21. avatar rigsyATL
have you actually seen them play a big stadium anto?

because they had more than enough presence to play to 40,000 odd at oxegen and that's pretty big.
  22. avatar pauldoherty
I think they do both quite well.....they have a great connection as a live band which show's.I loved when they play vital a few years back and how close they stood togther while playing on thta big stage....
    Cant wait for this!
  23. avatar flmcasey
I was too young to go to Vital when them and Franz headlined, but this should more than make up for it! (:

    Anyone know whose supporting?
  24. avatar Desus
I've seen them move up through the venues, and they do any size brilliantly.

Its strange that they can get away with as little audience interaction as they do. And there is very little posturing either. Lot to be said for just great songs, and talent.
  25. avatar tinpot anto
It was Vital I seen them at a few years back. Music was great and all, but it was just the atmosphere was lacking.

Watching their set at Glastonbury on telly earlier this year gave me the same impression.
  26. avatar ShowYourBones
They seem to interact more with the crowd now than they ever did. Caleb seems to really exude confidence and in a similar vein to Wayne Coyne, genuinely appreciates the adulation. The footage I seen of Glastonbury and Oxegen confirmed this.

Havent a clue whos supporting, We Are Scientists and The Whigs are doing it Stateside.
  27. avatar fratgirl
presale starts in the morning for Belfast, there is a presale link and password on KOL site!

i am credit-crunched until the end of september. what chance of there still being tickets left by then? will the promoters hold some back, or are they all going on sale tomorrow?

Was there in said Oxegen crowd this year+ I found the atmosphere distinctly lacking, I just put it down to maybe being in a dull part of the crowd but it made me lose interest and catch someone else instead....
  30. avatar flmcasey
I can't see the presale link for Belfast. Just the rest of the UK.

    edit: found it (:

    Yummy. Just what I needed.
  32. avatar TheJaneBradfords
Rod at QUB has been trying to get them since 2003 if memory serves.

Seen them at both Oxygen and All Points West and they are well capable of playing a venue the size of the Odyssey.
  33. avatar Mikeymoko
easily my fave band about at the mo. new album stuff sounds class so far...

it's possible there will be some released nearer to the date, but it doesn't always happen.
  35. avatar zebulon
I don't reckon it'll sell out so quickly, unless the scalpers have their eye on it.
But in case I jinx myself I'll be buying my ticket on Friday...a wee consolation Xmas pressie.
  36. avatar Captain Kennedy
Has anyone got the pre-sale password? If so could you PM me it or post it up here.

I usually get the emails a few days before from their site, but haven't got it this time!!!!
  37. avatar Captain Kennedy
    S'ok. Im sorted.
  38. avatar pauldoherty
Racontours supporting KOL would be the stuff dreams are made of....or someting.....seriously though, the only 2 bands that float my boat and arent from 1967. :-D
  39. avatar ShowYourBones
Has anyone had any joy with the presale, I have the password but for some reason or another I cant seem to get through the initial stages of purchasing.
  40. avatar Captain Kennedy
You must be trying for standing tickets. I had to get seats just to be sure to be sure.....

They must be holding the standing tickets for tomorrow.

Just ask for "Best Available" and you should be grand.

    (Presale is NIGHT)
  41. avatar blonderedhead
Just got me tickets. I got standing tickets alright, they were the cheapest tickets. Wouldn't wanna be seated at that gig anyway, I'd only go for seating at the more quiet gigs.

Anywhos, was listening to the new songs on their myspace page and on first thoughts was pretty unimpressed, there sounds are getting a bit more mainstream and bland, hopefully I'm proved wrong. I shall be listening to Youth and Young Manhood before the gig anyway, even if they only play a few songs off it, i'll be happy!

Yeah got standing tickets too, havent sat at a gig in quite some time.

Really? I've listened to both Crawl and Sex On Fire a bit and have to say they have upped the ante significantly. Crawl comes across all NIN, theres a real groove to it that I think works well and Sex on Fire is an ode to Springsteen.

I do prefer Crawl of the two songs. I just feel a bit underwhelmed by the songs. I've usually been really impressed when I've heard their new material from them in the past, I just don't think I'd listen to these songs as much if they weren't by Kings of Leon
  44. avatar Mikeymoko
that's a bit balls that you can't get Standing tickets in the pre-sale.

    i'll try tomorrow then...
  45. avatar blonderedhead
you can get standing tickets, i know a few people that have got them now
  46. avatar Captain Kennedy
Aye, ye can get them now!!! Couldn't get them this morning. Im stuck with 3 seats. Anyone wanna swap? They're all together....
  47. avatar november kyle
Ahh are standing sold out already?! This sucks.
  48. avatar november kyle
Lol seems to be all sold out now. Rubbish.
  49. avatar maza
kinda worried my tickets are seated....although I def selected (and paid for) the cheapest and ticket description is "standing-over16s only" ....but then there is a row and seat number given as well. Got them first clip yest morn. Am I fooked?
  50. avatar Mikeymoko
i have one spare Standing ticket if anyone wants it. 30.

    PM me if interested.

    Cheers M

anyone have spare standing or know of anyone who has bought to sell for a profit....pm to discuss a price!

    P
  55. avatar Bonanza*
Just to let yous know and calm anyone worrying - my mate rang the Odyssey just to double check why her confirmation email for KOL gave a row and seat nos even though we chose standing - apparently it's a thing they've got in to keep tabs on numbers better (Fire & Safety craic prob). So panic over, if you selected Standing and were charged for standing then you should have standing tickets!

Woohoo can't wait for this - what a feckin great Christmas treat - and on a Saturday too!
  56. avatar maza
    Sweet te the beat!
Thank your friend Bonanza, saved me a phonecall that I prob would have stalled on making until 19th Dec.
Was seriously worried about all the annoyance I would have caused to those around me if I was confined to a seat.

Are you serious?! It's a strange combination but M83 is fantastic. I only hope KoL's fans appreciate him but I wouldn't hold out too much hope. he's playing a headline show with Channel One at the Speakeasy on Oct 25th. That one will be fantastic.

Here here. Kings of Leon are still the most boring (big) band I've seen live. The Verve nearly beat them last year, but KoL clung on. Whoever said their (old) stuff didn't translate well to large venues was spot on.

I wasnt taking away from M83, just dissapointed that there isn't a bigger act supporting KOL
  69. avatar the_doctor199
'And the award for most boring band goes to....KINGS OF LEON!!'

    :D
  70. avatar blonderedhead
I couldn't be happier with M83, I was actually fearing a 'bigger' act for fear it would have just been a mediocre band choosen by the record company or something e.g. someone like the enemy
  71. avatar Mick-e
I will do anything if anyone will sell me me a ticket to this gig for less than the ridiculous prices they are going for on ebay. i.e. 100+ per ticket. If anyone has a spare ticket please send me a PM or something. i am dying to see this band live.
  72. avatar anty
why do people call KOL a boring live band, is it sarcasm or a genuine opinion?
  73. avatar the_doctor199
[quote:f23d1aa65f="anty"]why do people call KOL a boring live band, is it sarcasm or a genuine opinion?[/quote:f23d1aa65f]

  74. avatar blonderedhead
They ain't that boring, If you like their stuff then you should have a great night. I think the people calling them boring don't really like them or don't let their hair down at the gig.

Super excited that M83's supporting. It's nearly as good as the first time I seen KOL with support from secret machines
