I was thinking this when I saw them on Friday but Tin Pot Anto is bloody good, not front man but front woman Jeanette from Velma is great too.

Seen DuChampions for the first time a few weeks back. Ros has got inhuman like energy on stage. Great!
  4. avatar thesacredhearts
    Probably Cahir from FWW.

Ros from DusChampions is definitely one too watch - as are the band in general. It's very Patti Smith admittedly but she can [i:93a51bc729]really[/i:93a51bc729] sing and move.

Cahir is excellent. I always enjoy Griswold's schtick.

I was very impressed by Mike from Mojo Fury now that he has been unleashed from behind the kit, when I saw them support Two Door in the Spring.

Ferg always makes me laugh, so I'm gonna vote for him :D

Is that charlie mooney of Needlebomb and Tugena fame? There's a blast from the past.
  13. avatar nocturn
Aul Griswold does it for me, to be able to have such frontman presence and keep an audience interested while stuck behind a kit is no easy task!
  14. avatar Chi-Lite
    I hate frontpeople.

I like it when the whole band batters away like f[b:0e7d85910f][/b:0e7d85910f]uck, and that keeps you interested, instead of some hairy fecker waving his hole about.

I love it where the Who bate the balls out of everything during the songs, then in between songs, Daltrey slopes off to the corner of the stage, Moon shouts some inaudible insult at Townshend, there's a bit of mumbling among them, and then they batter into another song.

Feck all that front man ballix. that there's the best way to do it.

My link was to a review of Desert Hearts ca. 2002 where he's described as "an expert mumbler and stumbler" and frequently gets on the wicks of bar staff and security. Same guy?

Here I'm not a front man anyway :)

    Stevie Blues from Swanee River.
Dec from Soundstone is also good craic to watch.
  20. avatar parkbugz
gota be that guy from bow street runners. cant mind his name, its charly or something. seen them at the speakeasy, he was feckin amazing. reminds me of the early jagger days or even better!

I proclaim Charlie Mooney as the best front man in the country. Am I too late? Dammit.

Although I know what you mean about yer man from Mojo Fury, and Griswold is pretty entertaining, tho surely he's more of a back man, so to speak.
  22. avatar Niall Harden
EDIT: actually, if you can't say anything nice...
  23. avatar Chi-Lite
    Ach, go onnnnn....

    it's about Philip Payola, isn't it? :P
  24. avatar flmcasey
I'd go with Cahir like. His rant about NME in AU was hilarious.

p0d from Steer Clear is pretty good too. I'm not into the whole Pop Punk thing, but he's really good at what he does.
  25. avatar Niall Harden
well, it's just that i was gonna post what parkbugz said, only sarcastically. but then i decided it wasn't big or clever. or nice. or funny. or in any way worthwhile. so i didn't.
  26. avatar Baronation
Griswold for the way he works a crowd, I'll never get bored hearing him shout "Scream for Rock N Roll baby!" Jim Mellow Dramatic (not a front man, but can still get a laugh), Cormac from Complan for his bearded energy and Colin Riot for his flat cap.
  27. avatar Franky Van Der Elst
The local scene needs its own Bryan Ferry.

my best mate dec. he also cites me as the best frontman so i must be doing something right too, although i have taken influences from mercury and bolan.

Dec overdoes it in every rock excess way which is f-ucking marvelous to watch. honestly :-D

How I laughed. Good on him for telling the NME and 'Northern Irish music scene movers and shakers' to "suck his balls". I respect that integrity. He did everything himself, man.

Here, wait a minute! Isn't that the same Cahir that's been on here getting people to vote for him on MTV2 or something? Shouldn't he be telling them to "suck his balls" cos he's had to do everything on his own? Is he now "sucking the balls" of MTV2 in order to complete his rags to riches story?

Has he had his cake and eaten it?

  48. avatar The enfant terrible
I like someone who jumps around and looks halfway fun/interesting/like he's enjoying himself that or some piece of hot faff. There's nothing wrong with this, as long as the other peeps in the background are doing alright with the music and making it work, they can do their wee jumps or dramatic poses too, so long as it doesn't get in the way. That's what makes a good live band for me.
  49. avatar Joeplaysthedrums
