I'm sure its asked every year, but i've had a good look on the internet and haven't found a proper answer, but whats the deal with pub and club opening hours in England on Good Friday? Same as NI or regular times?

I'm in work and managed to waste a good amount of time reading through that last thread, so yes, I hope it degenerates into another nonsense thread so that I may do the same again.

Bars close at 11pm tonight with 1/2 hour drinking up time.

To my knowledge bars are only allowed to sell alcohol for five hours before 11pm. How they use those five hours (or not, some bars just don't bother opening at all) is up to them. They can decide to stay open after 11pm, but they just can't sell alcohol, but really what's the point.

    we is cosmopolitan we is.

Even the mighty MEGATRON had to yield to jesus's laws last night ad stop the dance floor just after 12.

Next year we'll just open at 5 in the evening!*

For bars with entertainment extensions (i.e. any bar allowed to open until 1am)

'holy thursday'- must close at midnight
'good friday'- alcohol is permitted to be sold as accompaniment to food from 12-11pm, and with out food from 5pm-11pm. A lot of bars just go with 5-11pm, as you get trying to order 10pints and a packet of pringles at 1pm to circumvent the law.
Easter Saturday- must close at midnight
Easter Sunday- allowed to serve from 12-10pm
Bank Hol Monday- normal hours (as long as you show at least one James Bond film).

Half hour drinking up time is a privilege, not a right so it may vary.

There is nothing good about friday, just like most people in the civil service are anything but civil, like wise for the civil war. There is nothing grand about grand pianos apart from they cost over a grand

On Good Friday in Derry its all about Sandinos. Every year they put on live music downstairs from 5-11pm and the place be's a jumpin, last night was no exception. They also give out free Chilli, flaunting beef in the face of all good Christians on a holy day. Class.
