The EZboard itself has been mentally slow for a few daze now.
Is this a sideeffect of the fastfude.com domain being dahn?
dunno. when the domain died, I switched the ezboard CSS back to the defaults, so it wasn't trying in vain to load stuff from Fastfude, but I think everything on 'tweb is a bit ballixed today anyways...
You could always make your own board based on PHPbb (open source Vbulletin-style board) or whatever combining Fastfude.com usernames and board usernames and not having to rely on EZboard's "service".
You'd lose all your archives of course, but it could be worth it (financially too, you already pay for your web host, if you had your own board you wouldn't have to pay extra) in the long run.
assuming extra bandwidth charges, drivespace charges and PHP facilities were all free, yeah that'd be true. But it's not
and while the notion of combining the user systems is nice, it's absolutely NOT that simple! NO! rite?!
Well most of the web now seems fine again for me,
but this EZboard is as slow as ever.
It looks to me like some wierd page-rendering thing,
as I'll get the wee "Feline1" drop down bax for "Your user name"
hanging on the screen about 1 minute before the rest of the page
arrives. Are ewe using some cheeky active code or sthg in there
that is causing slowness?
HTML Validator at W3C said
"I was not able to extract a character encoding labeling from any of the valid sources for such information. Without encoding information it is impossible to validate the document. The sources I tried are:
The HTTPContent-Type field.
The XML Declaration.
The HTML "META" element.
And I even tried to autodetect it using the algorithm defined in Appendix F of the XML 1.0 Recommendation.
Since none of these sources yielded any usable information, I will not be able to validate this document. Sorry. Please make sure you specify the character encoding in use.
yes, but have you ever looked at the source code for an ezBoard page? it's frikkin' AWFUL! Overlapping tags, tags not closed, even stuff that frankly looks like they just banged their head off the keyboard for ten minutes then clicked "save". I'm pleading with them to get the XHTML validated version onto the front end ASAP...
But SOMEWHERE in the HTML for fastfude's EZboard, it ought
(angle bracket) meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" (angle bracket)
Ours does - I'd even put it in manually in the "custom HTML" bit,
but I looked at their source code and noticed that it was in there
Why doesn't ewers say it?
Other stuff ewe could put in for niceness:
(into the "BODY" tag bit ..... annoyingly, there's no way to get
it into the global "HTML" tag)
(angle bracket) link href="http://www.fastfude.com" rel="start" (angle bracket)
Hey, it's fixed again, and back on the FF stylesheet!
