How about letting us bands put up a thread on the Main forum the day before our gigs telling people how much which bands are playing ect and deleting it the very next day? This way more people will get to know the gigs on.A simple Yes or no answer will suffice big brother.
Urgh. While I'm all in favour plugging the gigs, I don't wanna do it on the main forum. It'd be a major hassle for the mods to keep a lookout for that sorta stuff every day. I'd prefer to find ways to encourage people to browse the gigs forum more often.
There is a plan to change to format of the gigs page, so that it's no longer a forum, but an ASP driven table taking data from the gigs info on the band profiles and posting it into the header of the ezboard, so you can see exactly what's on tonight while surfing.
It's still a bit hazy as to how it'll work, and basically Steve is mulling over ideas, but it'll be a while yet
that was my idea that was
the calender / table type idea i mean, it was, no, really
For a second there I thought Rog said Steve had a mullet... :-)
he may be a programmer, but he ain't a redneck
and I had the gigs idea about two years ago adam, so neenerneener!
Aye but rog I said a yes or no answer would suffice.I didnt ask for a friggin essay ;)
u say that it would be too much hassle for tha moderators to look out for every day?Surely the moderators should be checking every day anyway. But that idea bout tha gigs thing sounds even better than my one anyway.
NOOOO you didnt, i did i did i did!!!!! rasp!!!!
If I'd just said "No" someone was bound to ask why
Anyway, yes the mods do check in every day already, but they don't have to lock / delete dozens of threads a day, just the odd one or two. It'd be a pain in the @#%$ if it became a bigger task than it already is.
And they would start pushing content off the bottom of the board at a much faster rate, so you could lose topics within weeks instead of months. Edited by: fastfude at: 5/29/01 7:18:14 pm
It's something we'd been kicking around for months before you mentioned it...:-(
But you were spot on with it....
