I just saw an old post concerning a gaming competition, and it made me think , would anyone be up for a street fighter 2 contest? Its a quality oldskool game , and everyone seems to think theyre the best at it (as i do).
who were your fave characters , and would you play for money?

    Confidently yours

    ThePaleMonarch (IM A HOAX)
  2. avatar penthouserehersal
first of all you wouldnt turn up

and even if you did i would pick ryu and haduokkken all your asses

    thirdly

street fighter is no double dragon
  3. avatar racecarisracecarbackwards
I'd just be E-Honda and fast-slap the sh1t out everyone.
  4. avatar JonnyTiernan
I am genuinely interested in this. Blanka is my character of choice. You will all die.
  5. avatar spirit of division
I'll do it! Havent played in years, but I'll be ryu or chun li...awesome!

    Pete
  6. avatar The Ronster
I was always Ken, just to be contrary.

People who chose Guile or Blanka were wimps who liked easy moves.

People who chose Zangief were either foolish or a bit good.

Chun Li and E Honda were for button bashers.

Dhalsim was odd, and not much cop until Turbo came out.
  7. avatar tinpot anto
I chose Chun Li cause when you windmill kicked you got a flash of her knickers (I WAS FOURTEEN, COME ON!)

also when you managed to KO a Ken/Ryu master with a well timed windmill, they tuck a serious massive reddener, and called you a button masher, Ron.

    Game ON!

  9. avatar Baronation
What format are we talking about here? SNES, Arcade, Playstation II, Megadrive, 8 disk Amiga multiload?

I always prefered E-Honda to anybody.

    Sodom?
  10. avatar Russ
Yeah id be up for it for doh.

Likewise, what format? Arcade or Snes only two viable options.

I might also be prepared to host it if the numbers were right.

    :D
  11. avatar Beau Sooth
Ah the fun I had playing that game!..........I could do some pretty mean Guile moves. There's only one way to settle this....

I'm up for it - street fighter II turbo, on the SNES.

    I'll be E Honda.
  13. avatar tinpot anto
No, should be classic on the snez.

Unless anyone has an arcade machine
  14. avatar fastfude
Hpmh, am I alone in never warming to this game? This did devour my youth for several months though: http://retrospec.sgn.net/games/hoh/

that xbox i had had something like 10 arcade versions of st fighter II on it.........
  16. avatar penthouserehersal
    is the xbox sold yet?
  17. avatar Baronation
oh come on! Head over Heels was rubbish, always was and a remake would be even worse.
  18. avatar The Donk
I like Blanka; if only for the head biting. There's nothing funnier than watching your opponent frustratedly sit helpless whilst you much on their pixelated loaf. :-D
And also for his giant low punch skills. Oh yeah and lets not forget he's also learned how to electricute stuff
  19. avatar Orzo
Was always partial to using Chun-Li for that head-bouncing trick.

Also, 16 bit is no 8 bit:

Ah, bygone days playing SFII / Mario Kart in the common room. There was always a few who wanted to play Sensi Soccer instead, and the girls wanted to watch Neighbours, but they were always the minority.

If this is happening I want in. Ken is my fighter of choice.
  21. avatar Baronation
Sensi Socver, pisses all over Pro Evo.

[quote:797609c543="Baronation"]oh come on! Head over Heels was rubbish, always was and a remake would be even worse.[/quote:797609c543]

It was great (although bloody hard) and the remake is actually good too. The only flaw is that the guy who did it added some extra rooms just because he could. I would have liked the option to play the classic layout only.

Admittedly though, HOH was no Escape From The Planet of The Robot Monsters....
  23. avatar die the flu
I always picked Ken. Jumping hard kick followed immediately by a crouching sweep. Combo of champions.

[quote:0302da386f="whosbainejakey"]Admittedly though, HOH was no Escape From The Planet of The Robot Monsters....[/quote:0302da386f]

Did no one like Dhalsim?? He could teleport and spit flames

    YOGA FIRE!!!!!

I dont know why he is fighting sub-zero
  29. avatar thefatson
Escape from the planet of the robot monsters was a great game. I had it on the st.

I'd be up for street fighter but I'm only any good at the alpha series, I'm not too crap at the originals if I can use an original ps controller.

Never had enough 20ps to get good back then.

Anyone ever play that messed up version of championship edition on the arcade?
You could do double fireballs that moved in a sin wave shape and press the start button to change character whenever you wanted to. It rocked.
  30. avatar Joeplaysthedrums
someone should totally do this. so i could win it.

ryu was my character of choice. good hurricane kick, good uppercut.
  31. avatar kingmob
    I liked Heihachi. Oh wait...

If this event actually takes place I will allow myself to be dragon punched by everyone who takes part. Will it take place during the Fastfude camping trip, after the Fastfude bowling competition or before the Clements tribute gig
  32. avatar ryanego
Scott_evil, thats clearly a yoga flame!

He was my character of choice, the thing where he jumped up and then corkscrewed down was amazing!
  33. avatar FraDonaghy
Streetfighter 2 was the bee's knees! I hunted out a version for PS2 a while ago because my old controllers for the SNES no longer work and I can't find replacements.

Ken was my favourite. I once beat M.Bison with two consecutive 85 second perfects! The highlight of my life thus far.
  34. avatar mooncat
Ah the times when you could see Chun Li's knickers during a certain kick and if you'd chosen her black costume it looked kind of like..........

i'll just let myself out :?

  38. avatar The Donk
I really wanna play it now. Like a fool I left my snes and a load of games at 8 wolsley street, botanic, some years ago. I rue and lament the day I forgot my snes. On the plus side, I did move out of that terrible, terrible place. :-D
  39. avatar dOUBLEwONDERFUL
