From the blurb about Fionn Regan:

The Mercury judges described him as a "modern day Irish troubadour" with "moving songs beautifully played and sung".

It's cool that they've picked what can only be described as a questionable shortlist (at best), but they've also managed to be really patronising, further emphasising their lowest common denominator credentials.

Fair play to them, and all the luck of the Irish to Mr Regan, etc, etc.

    Why don't they just stop?

I have no idea! That's why they must stop! Look at what they have done to me!

Dreary, middle of the road Damien Rice knock-off, is what immediately springs to mind.

I hate when people use that cliche. Modern day, pah!
