[quote:cfa7077e61]Two groups of experts rated the drugs. One was made up of consultant psychiatrists registered as specialists in addiction with the Royal Society of Psychiatrists. The second group were more varied experts from fields including chemistry, pharmacology, as well as the police and legal services. Both groups broadly agreed in their assessment of the drugs considered...
...The final list put heroin at the top, alcohol was in fourth place, ketamine in fifth, and tobacco in sixth. Cocaine was at number two followed by barbiturates. Cannabis kept its mid-rank position at number 11. Bringing up the rear were khat or qat in 20th place and alkyl nitrites (poppers) in 19th.[/quote:cfa7077e61]

This really, really reads like they were ranking them in terms of how class they are to take. And they've probably got it right.
It reads like some kind of strange race between all the different drugs....

What about when you take Acid and you get eaten to death by a big green slimy monster with teeth for eyes and an arse for a mouth?
Surely they should give some more love to the Harsh mistress that is LSD.
I was taught in Biology that booze and heroin were on par with each other.
I was [b:8564220d1b]on [/b:8564220d1b]booze and heroin in Biology.

Just out of curiosity has anyone actually ever seen "scary monsters" or anything like that on acid?

....yes. It's called a bad trip (and more prominent when you have taken far too much for your own good).
[i:c7a1b57da3](or so i've "read") :P [/i:c7a1b57da3]
I thought the drug Cake was the worst.
I was always somewhat amused when reading about "bad trips" people had had on that most evil of spices, nutmeg
Apparently the stuff you get in the supermarkets in the UK has its psychotropic active ingredient removes (myristicin), but if you munch large quantities (well, a whole mouthful - but that's a lot of nutmeg) of the fresh stuff,
people nearly always get convinced that they're actually tiny and small, like a few inches high, and have feelings of deep dread and that they're going to die and that the ground is opening up and monsters are coming out to take them away below!
I find this fascinating, as it's one of those instances where it completely discredits all those oh-so-very-clever 20th Century Post-Structuralist French Guys, since nutmeg does appear to produce the same psychotropic imagery in everyone, leading to speculations on innate essentialist bullschite about Jungian archetypes and suchlike.
But like, ARRRRRRRGH, I'm only 1 inch high, the ground has fissures and big black monsters with red eyes are coming out of them to take me down there!!!!!
I heard about nutmeg when I was about 16 and bought a bag of it funnilly enough from the Nutmeg.
I mixed a load of it up with milk and washed it all down with 6 beer.
I puked before anything happened luckily.
KInd of felt like drinking milk and sand.
silly boy, you should mix the nutmeg in cake mixture to make pleasing wee buns, not try to *drink* it
You want www.erowid.com for all your hallucinogenic info.
My faves are DMT and Juniper Oil. :D (not actually taking them, just reading about the feckups in people's heads!
black creatures with red eyes!
BRITISH MEDICAL JOURNAL 1970 1, 21 March 1970, page 754:
Hallucinogenic Effect of Nutmeg
An intelligent 19-year-old female with a hysterical personality took one ounce of nutmeg in water and orange juice. She had five fays previously taken L.S.D. with very little effect. She had also experimented with cannabis, but the only noticeable effect of this was that she developed a dry mouth. In contrast to this the effects of nutmeg were marked. At first she felt no effect, but after four hours she felt cold and shivery. Six to eight hours later she was vomiting severely. She saw faces and the room appeared distorted, with flashing lights and loud music. She felt a different person and everything seemed unreal. Time appeared to stand still. She felt vibrations and twitches in her limbs. When she shut her eyes she saw lights, black creatures, red eyes and felt sucked into the ground. Her mood was one of elation. She was taken by her friends to be seen by one of us (D.P.) as an emergency. She was admitted and quickly fell into a sound sleep. For the next week, however, she felt that she was walking in a cloud and complained that her thinking was confused and she found it difficult to follow what people were saying. Her concentration seemed poor and lapses of attention were noticed.
I tried smoking nutmeg one time.
It was stinkin.
Plus I drank a litre of Kulov vodka at the same time, so it was impossible to tell what was causing the hallucinations :)
I am SSSOOOOOO hardcore, I'm horsed up to the nines on CODEINE!!!
