You know the story, in the car, radio on, then a God awful song comes on and you are a danger to the road as you try to change channel rather than hear it!!

    Here are some of mine:

Toploader - Dancing in the moonlight (God awful)
Snow Patrol - all their songs (Shameful)
    Maroon 5 - see above
Oasis - Wonderwall (Today is whatever big brows!)
New Radicals - You get what you give (To death)
Jack Johnson - Every God Damn Thing He Has Recorded (drown yourself)
The Fray - How to save a life (Step 1 P*** OFF)
Goo Goo Dolls - Iris (Don't want world to save me, no such luck!)

I thought you referring to TV watching. My response would have been ads. When the ads come on I 'surf'.

But radio, umm, well I don't listen to the radio at all. Only online to listen to the likes of ATL.

When people insist on playing that, I take great pleasure in ruining it for them by shouting "wanking" instead of "dancing"

The rest I agree with entirely, I just survive by using last.fm
On it, if I hear Coldplay, Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand, Keane and the White Stripes then I skip. Those are the main ones I would skip over...and Jamaraqui (however the hell that's spelt)

    Don't listen to the radio.

    Problem solved.

I only listen to talk radio - my music comes from me iPod, so no nasty surprises.

Rather than moaning about songs you hate, how about helping out the media types who read this by listing what you would rather hear in their place.

I want to hear the new British Sea Power material. Their latest mailout claims that one of their new songs sounds like "Amy Winehouse meets Charles Babbage". If anybody can live up to that, it's BSP.
  9. avatar ShowYourBones
I read that, looking forward to their new material aswell. Seems like it will be a bit of a departure from previous outings if that is anything to go by, Pixies influence at a minimum no doubt.

they've not licensed any of their music for radio play. Well they might have allowed "Please play this song on the radio" to be played on the radio, but it wont be...

The only radio station I really listen to is BBC 6music, I think it's great. They're pretty much the only people who could get away with playing "venus in furs" on the breakfast show.

I agree - BBC6 is great. Also the girlfriend really likes the Friday night funk/soul stuff hosted by Craig Charles.

    Win/win.

That Craig Charles show is feckin class. Any show that has a special spot for highlighting great hammond organ solos has got to be a winner!

it has recently occurred to me that bob dylan has a show on 6 Music so i'm gonna listen for the first time tonight (9pm)

If i could get 6Music in the van, then yes, I would definitely listen to music radio.

It's a really great station, clearly programmed by music lovers, for music lovers.

    Unlike Radio 1.

Radio 2 is pretty good sometimes in the evening during the specialty shows.

i know its for charity and all but that sugababes vs girls aloud rehash of walk this way is the only one that really sticks out in my mind at the moment. i work in a shop where the other employees station of choice is cool fm and hearing 20 million adverts and then that does not make my day go any better.

thats bbc radio for ya. they talk a lot on all stations, though its part of the reason why i have always preferred em to other stations (besides the fact that theres no ads). Talking gives the station a personality.
