Disgracefully off-topic I know so this might be deleted or locked. But anyway, I thought here might be a good place for any Fastfude gamers to put their X-Box360 gamer IDs or Wii Numbers so we can play each other online, call each other n00bs and other such insults.

I bought a Wii yesterday and it is extremely mighty. Some of the most fun I have had with videogames in years. My Wii number is 3804 8699 6715 4999 if anyone wants to add me.

Sigh. I haven't played my 360 in about 6 months, maybe more.

I think... I mightn't like games as much as I used to

Maybe if I got a Wii that might change, I dunno. I think I might have to borrow one before I dropped the readies.

In other news, I did download practically every Commodore 64 music file yesterday and sat gleefully listening to amazing pieces of work by the likes of Jeroen Tel and Rob Hubbard.

I really want to get Xbox live but I know that I'll never EVER get anything done again. I'm actually dreading the GTA 4 being released in October. San Andreas absorbed about 2 months of my life - luckily my purchase of it coincided with a 6month illness so i had somethin to do.

Looking forward to Xbox actually havin some great games now that the PS3 is basically out.

I had a lot of fun with my Wii when I first got it (Twilight Princess took up most of my Xmas) but games are a bit thin on the ground at the mo. Waiting for Tiger Woods to come out in a few days.

In the meantime I'm enjoying Dead Rising on my flatmate's 360. Zombies are fun.

excerpt from a few nites ago:

"Go on, throw that pole in him and see if it sticks"
"Ah, hadn't thought of that"
<throws pole into chest>
"Haha, look he's pissin blood, brilliant!"

I've WarioWare, Sports, Excite Truck and Zelda. The first three are definitely pick up and play party games (and incredibly fun with it) but Zelda has a bit of longevity to it (hopefully). I know what you mean about a lack of in-depth games but I think Super Smash Bros, Paper Mario and No More Heroes will keep me going until Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid 2.

I'm going to wait for an XBox to drop below £200 before I get one. Considering I'll need to fork out for an HD-TV, I'll need the spare cash.
10. avatar The Ronster
Seems VICE is available for all OS's.

So there you go.
11. avatar thefatson
I see you liked that site ronster.

I got bored of zelda and have no one else to play with so right now I'm picking up all the game cube games I missed to play on the wii.

You can get a gc controller for £6 in forbidden planet and a memory card for £3.

Resident Evil 4 is totally amazing on the cube!
12. avatar gtm
Is anyone here getting a PS3? I've preordered one with Resistance: Fall of Man. Always found the XBOX controllers to be slightly awakward though Pro Evo 6 on the 360 is really good.
13. avatar TRHolmes(y)
I would consider getting a PS3 for MGS4, but there is no rush whatsoever when the 360 has stuff like Gears and Dead Rising going for it. Price is a little off-putting too.
14. avatar DuncanDisorderly

just so you can have miis invade your console! i will add any posted here.

every friend who plays my wii ends up wanting one - nintendo are taking over the world!

might get a 360 somewhere along the line altho my gaming expenditure is getting pretty excessive these days.

my wii is worth it just for the gamecube games (esp re4 and donkey kongo).

no more heroes looks amazing - the guy who is behind it is bonkers - he goes by the name suda51. was gonna get killer7 for the gamecube/wii but its £20 second hand!
16. avatar kingmob
I doubt Killer 7 is worth £20. eBay may be a good idea. I saw Super Mario Sunshine for the Gamecube for £12 today - was sorely tempted.

Shops can't get rid of preorders for the PS3 for love nor money. Its price is extremely off-putting and all the great franchises are available for the much cheaper XBox.
17. avatar Stevie Mac
right enough I could go and find those 'cube ones I missed

Mario Sunshine is well worth £12, and Resi Evil 4 was maybe the best game I played last year. Killer 7 I have mixed feelings about, I really wanted to like its quirky manga stylings, and I persevered with it for a while but in the end it was just too odd to play.

So what Cube (or PS2 for that matter) games are worth hunting down? I'd quite like to find Pikmin 2 on the cheap.

Re: PS3, a few weeks ago a GAME employee stopped me on the street outside the shop and tried to get me to put down a pre-order, all I could think was maaaaaan, they're desparate.

I'm just a Wii bit disappointed with the lack of Hi-Def support.
21. avatar kingmob
Does it really matter?

Nintendo have always focused on smart, innovative gameplay at the expense of pure graphics power. Wii Sports and the rest are far from the greatest looking titles I've ever seen but they are much more fun to play than most games famed for their stunning graphics.

A component cable would do the job nicely.

Ok - someone's [i:37ed7bb4d8]bound[/i:37ed7bb4d8] to be able to help me here.

This has been bugging me for YEARS!
I don't know what platform it was on - I remember playing this game when I was about 6 years old in my mates house - so that would be around 1990.

It was a PC like console (I think)... anyway..
The main character - or only character for that matter - was a guy that killed the enemies with a Yo-Yo.. and I think he may have worn burmuda shorts or something.. it was a platform game - you know? Jumping from ledge to ledge and stuff.. Anyone know it?

Another one - same year - same house, same mate.. [i:37ed7bb4d8]not sure if it was the same console[/i:37ed7bb4d8] but it was a black screen - and the graphics were only like green lines and dots.. the game in question was a tank game.. you moved from left to right or right to left and shot other tanks - like in first person mode.. Anyone remember this one?

I've been dying to play these for years.

Cheers if anyone can help - Fatson - you seem to know your stuff? Any Ideas?

Yes Mr Fatson - you have struck gold! It was Battlezone for the C64 I played - god I loved that game - I'm gonna get the rom and play it all day long now.

Greendog - I'm not too sure about it - I searched it on wikipedia and it says its release date was 1992 that's too late for the years to add up right - I'm pretty sure it was a keyboard based console and that he used a yo yo - The screenshots of Greendog are [i:6340dd41d1]really[/i:6340dd41d1] like it though

Is the yo-yo game Rygar, or am I just showing my age?

Funny that Ron mentioned it earlier, but my Xbox 360 is sitting forlornly underneath my TV while all the attention gets lavished on my original Xbox with its Mame capabilites.

Resident Evil 4 is quite possibly the greatest game ever.

After a weekend of intensive Zelda: Twilight Princess exploration, I'd say it makes the mighty Resi 4 look dead by comparison.

The nerd glee of using the remote to point at a distant archer, then fire a arrow knocking him off a platform is immense. God knows how good a Zelda title developed exclusively for the Wii in two or three years would be.

I think the 360's problem is there is still a lack of musst have games. Off the top of my head there's Crackdown, Oblivion and Dead Rising but the console has been out for ages. Unlike the Wii (with Paper Mario, Mario Galaxy and Metroid incoming), there seems to be a lack of must-have games in the pipeline for the 360.

I still intend to buy one but any purchase is months away. Or at least until GTA4 comes out.
69. avatar tingtatingtingtingtating
Success! After 3 hours of searching the internet, the search phrase "yo yo weapon" in google turned up my game!

The game is called Frak!

[img:b9c71b99f1]http://www.gamebase64.com/oldsite/gameofweek/frak!/Frak!.gif[/img:b9c71b99f1]

Also for the Commodore 64... My childhood memories are all coming back now. I can now die peacefully - now that I can play Battlezone and Frak! anytime I want!

(look how amazing that game is - he's firing out a yo yo! a fucking yo yo!)
70. avatar thefatson
Frak looks like he knows how to rock.

Totally agree with you kingmob, that first time you go to the desert in zelda and the flaming arrows are coming at you in the dark its just so class picking those guys off.

I think the mood in resi 4 is just as good but its different, scary.

At least one of the speccy emulators you can get online (forget which one) has the option of loading the "tapes" in realtime, if you long for the noise and loading screen countdown to crash timers.
75. avatar Bobphoenix
The first game I had for the C64 was Midnight Resistance. It was amazig! I had the C64 disk drive which loaded those big ass 7" floppy's. I got an emu for my PC and played this game again recently, I have to say it was pretty disapointing, not at all the near photo realisism I remember as a child! The c64 was pretty nifty though, in that it could hook up to any TV, unlike the Spectrums and Amstrads of the time that required a monitor.

I currently game on PC, playing the odd game on PS2, but have hacked my PSP this week, so it'll now play emu games including PSX roms, and even UMD ISO rips, allowing for copying my mates games onto a memory card and playing it, it's just like copying the C64 tapes in an old HI-FI system!
76. avatar Baelmammon
[quote:f141e59798]but have hacked my PSP this week, so it'll now play emu games [/quote:f141e59798]

I've got the firmware downgrade but i'm afraid it'll turn into a brick, plus the new PSP games have new firmware upgrades, and if you don't upgrade you can't play the game Sony bastrads.

Did you have any problems.Just curious like....
77. avatar Bobphoenix
In terms of the downgrade, you have to upgrade first to 3.03, there's an exploit in it, then run the downgrade using an unpatched version of GTA:LCS (the one with the version 2.00 f/w on it), then you can update to custom firmwares, which are released regularly, and allow you to play the latest games. The most recent is 3.10oe. If your PSP is already above 3.03 then your screwed, as there are no known exploits above this as of yet.

The new dowgrader by Fanjita is the safest yet...

[b:e921ba5f2c]Company of Heroes[/b:e921ba5f2c] - just finished it after christmas, best game I've played in years. basically spend all my time off at christmas playing this.
[b:e921ba5f2c]Command & Conquer series[/b:e921ba5f2c] - greatest series of games ever. i'm addicted to each of these games when they come out, i end up dreaming about them. [haven't got the new one yet - don't know if my PC will run it!]
[b:e921ba5f2c]Call Of Duty 2[/b:e921ba5f2c] - play this online all the time...
[b:e921ba5f2c]Soldier of Fortune[/b:e921ba5f2c] - brilliant - totally politically incorrect, mindless killing! destroy & decapitate innocent civilians with shotguns, flamethrowers & phosphorus grenades on your way through the worlds conflict hotspots - Kosovo, Iraq, Sudan, Uganda...
[b:e921ba5f2c]Rainbow 6 series[/b:e921ba5f2c] - love the weapon options & planning.
[b:e921ba5f2c]Unreal Tournament series[/b:e921ba5f2c] - awesome.
[b:e921ba5f2c]Secret Weapons Over Normandy[/b:e921ba5f2c] - great arcade flying shooter, a rare find in a world of boring flight sims.

Just got [b:e921ba5f2c]Sniper Elite[/b:e921ba5f2c], it's not bad a little slow moving for my liking, but when you get a crackin shot the wee bullet time sequence is awesome.

For those liking the Guitar Hero Rhythm Action type of thing, but perhaps wanting a bit of retro action in the style of Klax, with shades of ould Playstation game "Frequency", get yerself a Steam account and pay the piffling $11 (yep, about 6 quid) for Audiosurf.

It's hard to explain. It takes music and forms a track based on it's intensity, tempo etc, then distributes coloured blocks along it. Your little ship pootles along the track, and must arrange the blocks into rows.

The great thing is, it has as many levels as you have songs on MP3 or CD, and six or seven play modes.

If anyone's playing it, post your nickname up here. I'm "MisterMuncher.

I bought an XBox360 last week. Burnout Paradise, Crackdown, Bioshock and Call of Duty 4 are blowing my tiny little mind.

I also have Halo 3, Mass Effect and Oblivion on the 'to play' pile too. They're sitting in my room while I finish the others. Awesome stuff.

Zavvi are doing a deal for a Premium machine with Halo 3, Lost Odyssey and Assassin's Creed for £210. I took the latter two and traded them for brand new games.

Anyone else pre-ordered GTA4 from Game on High Street?

They tell me they're having a midnight launch (as expected) but also that representatives from Rockstar will be in attendance. They wouldn't tell me in what context though.

I smell free stuff for the first 20 people down or something; I'm booking the 30th off work and heading down for it, who's with me?!

I've been absolutely glued to my DS the past week anda bit now, picked up an R4 card and a 2GB SD card to go with it. Time has been plunged into Mario Kart and FIFA 08 over Ninty's WFC, Trauma Centre, FF12, Zelda and Age of Empires.
109. avatar bubblegumpanic
Rockstar representives? Really. Oooh. Makes it sound more interesting to pre-order through them, rather than online for free Xbox Live points... Hmmm.... *strokes imaginary beard*
110. avatar Nephilim
I stupidly didn't read the fine print on Game's website regarding the XBL points only being handed out with online pre-orders, but then again, I might not've found out about the midnight shindigs had I not pre-ordered in store...!

Either way, the 29th April won't come quick enough.
111. avatar EndOn6
I'm stupidly excited about GTA4, I have the 29th booked off so I can play it all day, sad i know. Have it pre-ordered in Game as well.
Though for the midnight launch of San Andreas I'd been in the pub for about 4 hours before hand, staggered down, ate the cake, buns, sweets, had some lemonade then decided the queue was too long and stumbled off home and just picked it up the next morning. Determined not to do that this time.
112. avatar Nephilim
Actually, I'm glad you've said that, it's the 29th I need to book off work, not the 30th.

Damn, that woulda been a serious schoolboy error.

I'm trying to get a crowd organised to head down, maybe get a few jars in before hand. Incredibly nerdy but man, a GTA release only happens every 3 or 4 years...!
113. avatar bubblegumpanic
I've always wanted to go to a midnight launch for a game... I always either work the next day early and can't get it off, or can't afford to buy it at launch. For GTA4 I can afford it and I don't start until 12 the next day... I might go!

Has anyone been to any midnight launches in Belfast before? I'd imagine there weren't many people who'd go, but then again I could be surprised.. =/

Like a bush baby on PCP, for an epoch-defining 7th Year Belfast is to host the Belfast World Pong Championship.

Who will drag themselves from the fetid mass grave of obscurity to the shining pinnacle of electronic achievement? Will it be last year’s champion Benji “Paddles” De Burca? Or some young pup hungry for blood on the joysticks?

Live commentary, psychological analysis and humiliation will again be supplied by heartless arbiters of justice Paddy Bloomer and Dan Jewesbury. Cinilingus will provide unparalleled audiovisual coverage, capturing and projecting every facet of this brutal display of gladiatorial combat, including live monitoring of sweat glands and bladder control. The Winner will receive a specially commissioned Pong trophy.

If its Pro Evo your after (by the way, the new one is the worst football game in history) then come over to http://completegamingnetwork.com/

Its a Pro Evo fans website which has now increased members and called Complete Gaming Network but mainly PES. Loads of leagues and cups.

New Pro Evo is completely wick. Seems like the end of the line for it. Played FIFA 09 last night - one of the best football games I've played.

The new pro evo is class! Most realistic football game yet, big improvement on the last one. Is there any pub tournaments anywhere anytime soon?

Well, one trustworthy fella in the states, a steam account and a bit of footering later, and Far Cry 2 is up and running. If you have a system that'll run this, buy it tomorrow. It's properly brilliant. Open-ended FPS heaven, once you've got through the first hour, which is a bit of an enforced tutorial.

Mind you, I can see it causing some bother here if the right/wrong politicos get wind of it. One of the playable characters is a Former IRA man. Won't Someone Think Of The Children?
