  4. avatar whipchorus
Yeah it's that kind of festival where you can buy tickets early on without extensive knowledge of the line up and be assured something will be klawws.

  7. avatar MtCaramel
Beastie Boys are a no. Bestival are saying that for certain that they will not be playing in the UK at all this year. Wait. Ireland. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. I still can't see it. I'm guessing Bjork will probably make a trip.

Lightning Bolt? I had a dream.
  8. avatar Ciaran Mackle
My Bloody Valentine and SOnic Youth are rumoured to be playing
  9. avatar ShowYourBones
Chemical Brothers are rumoured to be playing. !!! have confirmed as far as I am aware. Ive heard rumours of both Bjork and The Beastie Boys.
  10. avatar mcflymo

    I can't wait.

I [i:2873bc1359]will[/i:2873bc1359] go on my own if I have to.
  11. avatar gregz
lcd soundsystem might be making an appearance from what i can understand
  12. avatar ShowYourBones
I got the impression LCD Soundsystem will play Oxegen as they are on the bill for T in the Park. Prob better suited to EP though.
  13. avatar tenrabbits
I hear rumours Radiohead will be playing, as will David Bowie.

  15. avatar tinpot anto
I heard Jesus is making this the first date on a Reformed Apostles tour!
  16. avatar ShowYourBones
Thats funny, Judas is making his first solo appearance.
  17. avatar tinpot anto
Well it's a well known story that the first thing Jesus did after the resurrection was dump a ton of manure on Judas' driveway :)
  18. avatar scott_evil
!!! AND Tobias Frobe are apparently certs
  19. avatar tenrabbits
He's only resurrecting for the money. And sure the Apostles were never as good as when it was Jesus and the Disciples.

Huh? The Bestival website says they are playing, as does the Beasties website

Hopefully it'll be a "Pauls Boutique" festival- boo-yah!

    sorry...
  21. avatar MtCaramel
I know they are playing Bestival. Bestival is also saying the BB will not be playing the UK at all this year, then my head caught up with my hands and I reliazed Ireland. So its not out of the question, but I still don't see it.
  22. avatar ShowYourBones
Well it appears that those in the know on the EP forum think that its a real possibility. NIN and Bjork being the other headliners.

Edit: With NIN supporting the Foo Fighters in Dublin, this may be unlikely. I also heard talk of the Smashing Pumpkins.

Someone told me the Bowie rumour thing is a definite no-no. But then that could be a devious counter-rumour from the man himself in an effort to be mysterious. They dont call him 'Devious Dave' for nothing.

Edit: I am pretty sure no-one calls him 'Devious Dave'. I just think more people should.

I hope so. Seeing as I just made it up! The power of rumour..

Here - did any of you lot know Rog isn't actually real? He's a fictional character created by T-Ents, Anto and Feline, who are actually all the same person. For a recent interview a body was made from cardboard and rusted metal, with Harry Shearer off the Simpsons doing the voice.
  25. avatar Sparky
There was a rumour he was going to play Oxegen as well. This was also balls.

Not going to happen, if you check the back of your ticket stub from last year (i kept mine as a souvenir, yes I'm a saddo I know! LOL!) it clearly says Electric Picnic has a "No Grunge" policy :-(
  27. avatar whipchorus
Well I dunno, Bob Mould was there in '05, and he's the godfather of grunge. Who's gonna speak out against the don?

Do you believe everything you read on the back of a ticket stub? I recall it also says - 'No Moshing/Crowd Surfing', prob something about prohibiting Illegal Substances/Alcohol aswell. Jeeeez.
  29. avatar King Canute
yeah but those things are printed on tickets as a matter of course, you can't buy blank tickets without that on them by law. The "No grunge" thing was written on each individual ticket in biro so if they go to all that effort I'm pretty sure it's a rule they're going to abide to.

Uh, I still don't know what you mean, is the Isle Of Wight not in the UK...?
  31. avatar MtCaramel
Yes. Bestival promised they were a UK exclusive.
  32. avatar Jamesy Yakuza
therefore they are playing in the UK...
  33. avatar MtCaramel
Right mate. Everyone knows they are playing Bestival. Why in fucks name would I say Bestival made a statement concerning the Beastie Boys UK touring, if they weren't playing bestival. You pedantic prick.
  34. avatar Jamesy Yakuza
settle down dude, no need to call me a prick but you consistently said they aren't playing the UK when they are,,,

I know what you were getting at, you just weren't saying it right, don't know why I cared so much

    let's just be friends!

Beastie boys are playing at connect in scotland.
That's still part of the UK, imminent SNP majority notwithstanding!

also bjork, jesus and mary chain and primal scream.....

It's same weekend as electric picnic

    go figure.

When in Dublin talking to a mate from there at the weekend, I was informed that Sonic Youth abd the Pixies are strongly rumoured to play. No idea how likely but they'd both be amazing, esp as I've never seen SY.

The Connect Festival is run by those with a controlling stake in MCD (supposedly) and with MCD currently in the process of introducing another festival in August (Latitude), it looks like a number of the acts will be snapped up for that. Unless Aiken/POD have already got contracts in place with the artists.
  38. avatar 10rapid
oh right, i thought it'd be a t in the park/oxegen style set up.

flippin ireland is festival crazy this year.....
  39. avatar MtCaramel
Thats a turnip for the books. Connects looks pretty good like. Coachella of the UK in a few years?
