That is one seriously awesome lineup.

I'm still not going if it's like last years fiasco.

I really enjoyed it last year. As far as the last day is concerned though, I found it tolerable as long as I didn't become involved in any of it. Wasn't planning on sleeping anyway.

What actually happened at last years Oxegen?

    what happened at oxegen?
there was a lot of average music, it rained a lot and people got drunk and did stupid things...

sounds exactly like how an irish music festival will inevitably turn out.

Supposedly Tori Amos and Kings of Leon have been added to the lineup, make of that what you will!

Oxegen website is "re-opening" (is that the right word) tomorrow morning - 22nd - at 10am. And why did I think Tori Amos was dead until I just read that post?

I'm waiting for Oxegen's version of Woodstock '99. Shouldn't be long now.

The Gossip, Datarock and the Wu-Tang Clan have now been added. Looks like Radiohead wont be playing (like it was ever going to happen), The Killers are the headliners for Sun Nite. Looking forward to Arcade Fire, Interpol, Daft Punk, The Gossip, CSS, Klaxons and Kings of Leon.

I got my tickets today. Interpol last year blew my mind and the Arcade Fire this year will be awesome.

My brother was lucky enough to witness Interpol that year and he said they were simply stunning. Not sure about Arcade Fire on the Main Stage though, I would prefer to see them in more intimate surroundings e.g. Green Room or whatever its called now.

How come everyone went so mad for it this year? Or is it always that popular and I just keep forgetting anually?

  24. avatar Danny McCormack
    Mon 5th Mar 2007, 4:53 pm

It's just the lineup really. Every 17 year old spide and her daughter are going because of bands like Snow Patrol. There are a lot of chart bands, more than last year for sure, and the recent populatity of Indie Rock has definitely shown in the mad rush for tickets.

I think last year they sold out in a couple of weeks, which actually surprised me because of the Chili Peppers headlining. I guess there's no real set formula.

    Mon 5th Mar 2007, 5:22 pm

I think they sold out quite quickly last year too (in a matter of hours I think). There is a considerable number of chart friendly acts at it this year, together with the popularity of The Killers, Snow Patrol and Arcade Fire it was always going to sell out almost immediately. I just hope that a number of acts I like are announced to justify the ticket price. Fingers crossed for a few of the Primavera/Bennicassim acts to come over here.

I went the Electric Picnic way. More to my liking as I don't want to go and spend a couple of days listening to radio 1 live.

Gonna do both this year again, couldnt bypass Oxegen with Arcade Fire, Interpol, Daft Punk etc playing, I will however bypass the hoods that attend. I may purchase a flame resistant tent.

The National (Hardly a new band)

    Cool

As per usual though, every single fucking band I want to see appears to be billed at the same time. For my hundred and something quids worth I get to see about 1 minute of each band.
